Math concepts:
Regrouping, comparing numbers, multi digit subtraction, multiplication, solving multi step problems
Practices:
Reading comprehension, error analysis, determine appropriate strategy to use to solve the problem, explain mathematical reasoning using words and numbers, knowledge of operations

3rd grade-Students need to know all the operations. Students need to know how to do error analysis. This work can't be done digitally. Students need to use scratch paper, show work, draw visuals. They need to be able to read. Students and teachers need to engage these task ASAP.

Its very stressful....teach how to manage by chucking, tackle each part....very much like a 1st read, 2nd read in ELA. Group or coop learning would be great!

Strategies: Cross multiplied, used proportions to solve, It could have been done without the equation.
Proportional reasoning vs algebraic

Prepare students: stamina/practice, perseverance, practicing/focusing more on the proportional relationship

3rd grade Math PT

Students need to time scroll back and forth to find the resources.
Questions are multi-step, more pages are coming. Review all information before attempting to solve the problems.
Can be overwhelming for students; build confidence. "Chunking" material before moving forward.
Annotating; notetaking skills are needed.
Background knowledge - student may not know what a science fair is, and what it entails.
Troubleshooting skills - technology
Reading comprehension/fluency is needed.
How should responses be written? Complete sentences, using math language, bullet points? We need to review the rubric and prep students prior to presenting PT.
How does our curriculum align to the PTs?
-Go Math! uses a 4 point rubric
Using 3rd grade PT for 5th grade students; building skills without math skills interfering with the process. The language is different from our curriculum.
Use IABs an instructional tool; have students work in groups; make it fun.
