In my word list I chose the word savvy because it is a supernatural power that goes on from generations in the family. The girl’s name is Mississippi. On her thirteenth birthday she is supposed to get her savvy. One of her brothers have an uncontrolled power. Mississippi’s poppa get into a car accident during her big day.

The next word I chose was save because everyone was expecting Mississippi to save her poppa. Mississippi experiencing her poppa at the hospital was very scary for her. Her family means the world to her. Mississippi, or Mibs for short, realized her savvy was people talking to her through ink on their skin. At the end of the day, Mibs was her father’s savior.

Book Review:

The summer reading book I read was “Savvy” By Ingrid Law. If this book could be put into a section in the library I think it would be in the fantasy section. I think it would be in the fantasy section because the main character Mississippi Beaumont and her family all have a savvy. A savvy is a magical power that the family gets when each member turns 13. The book mainly took place where the Beaumonts jokingly named Kabraska/Nebransas because they moved to the edge of Nebraska and Kansas. I felt like I was in the book with them because the author gives close details about what happens and let’s you use your imagination. If you asked me if the characters are believable or unbelievable, I would probably say unbelievable because some characters in the book have magical powers.

I think the book Harry Potter is similar to the book Savvy because both Mississippi and Harry both live normal lives until a very special day came. The most interesting part of the book to me is when Mississippi realizes her savvy is that she can hear

people talking to her through ink on their bodies. I would definitely recommend this book to other students because if they like magical powers and reading about going through obstacles in life, this is the perfect book for them. I give this book a HUGE thumbs up because it shows that going through something bad, a good thing will come out of it.
