Bhutan : My Home Country

I am from Bhutan. We are a landlocked Himalayan Kingdom in South Asia, with China to the north and India to the south. I am proud to say that my country has always prioritized environmental conservation, and sustainable development remains at the core of policy and law. I am from Paro, but I grew up, studied, and work in the capital city of Thimphu.

I started my career with the Judiciary of Bhutan in 2020 as a Court Registrar with the Supreme Court of Bhutan. Since the end of 2020, I have been working as the Personal Secretary to the Honorable President of Bhutan National Legal Institute- the research and training arm of the Judiciary. I continue to work in that position and it involves working with the Judiciary, JSW Law, and the Bar Council of Bhutan. (Pictured above: JSW School of Law)

I studied a five-year BA LLB(Hons) program from Amity Law School in India and graduated in 2018. In 2019, I underwent a year-long Post Graduate Diploma in National Law program at the Royal Institute of Management in Bhutan.

Experience as an International Student in the US

I have been in Portland since August 2024. This is my first time in the US, and I am happy to share it has been wonderful so far. I enjoy being part of the warm and welcoming community of Lewis & Clark. I have been enjoying getting to know people, learning from our erudite professors, and exploring the area. I hope to be able to make the most of my remaining stay here in the US!

I have been enjoying taking leisure walks while listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and taking photographs. I really enjoy working on creative or innovative projects as well. At the moment, I am working on rediscovering hobbies I had and new ones.
