The main relationship in the story were the brothers, Will and Shawn. They were really close and Shawn's death is the reason Will is doing everything he is doing.
Will and Tony have a relationship too, they are close friends and they both look up to Shawn. Shawn had a very good relationship with his girlfriend, Leticia. The mom had a very strong relationship with Shawn. Of course a mother will have a strong care for her children.

Joey and Pete are brothers who are obviously close, you can see in page 4, they seem to bond easily and you can even Pete take pick out a video game for Joey. The relationship Pete and Joey have with their parents isn't very good. They don't really care for each other and they both have very different intents and life styles. One of the restrictions the characters have for the outside circle is, Pete going to jail. Jail was a big restriction to Pete, and eventually he went to a program. If you think of it, they had big restrictions at the start of the book. You could tell they weren't very wealthy and that means they cant buy much. Restricting them from most of the enjoyable stuff in life.

In the TED talk, he talked about Mouaz Al Balkhi and Shadi's story. Their stories were very rough. They were both coming out of a very harsh situation which led them to get out of where they lived. Both very similar but both unique in their ways. There were a lot of restrictions put on both of these individuals. For Mouaz, he wanted an education. The war restricted him from staying in his home country. His family, which included, a father, a mother, and 3 sisters, moved to Jordan. His father struggled to find a job in the new place, the consequence being Mouaz not being able to finish his education. Mouaz decided to go out of the country to finish his education and get a job. Unfortunately, he was not accepted to the university. After he left his home as a refugee he was not allowed to return. That restriction caused him to go to the UK instead. He tried at least 12 times to get through the English channel. After that he figured to just swim there, leading to his death. So many restrictions lead to his exact situation. For Shadi, his home was bombed early in the war. So he and his extended family fled to camp Yarmouk. He was able to get out with his sisters. While he was in Libya, he enjoyed diving, so when war struck Libya and had to leave, hoped on getting a job as a scuba diver in Italy. Due to complications, he ended up on the streets somewhere in France. He was not able to pay smugglers to get across to Britain, so he got the idea to swim. of course, it leading to his death. The restrictions of money and war put both of these individuals in situations that were despicable difficult to get out of, leading to their death.

These stories deal with many similar things. They both deal with the separation of brothers; Shawn and Will, Pete and Joey. Both are very close to each. They are very similar to each other in ways that aren't very noticeable at first. There is one way they are closely connected, their care for each other. Every crime they have committed, have tried to commit, has been because of their own brother.

The two story's are similar in someway. In the story the long way down they have the restriction of the rules and type of place they live in. It restricts them from opportunity's. In these peoples stories, they were all forced to a situation where they forced themselves to do something. They had almost no other choice. Relationship wise, Will and Shawn had to go through harsh environment to get by. Same with Mouaz and Shadi, they both bonded enough to make a decision to leave and swim.

The Outside Circle and the TED talk both had a strong relationship. The two brothers in the outside circle had a great relationship, it was obvious that they helped each other get through rough times. Mouaz and Shadi were close enough to bond and think of a solution to their problem. They both had the same goal and tried their best to execute it to live as best as they could. It's the same for the brothers in The Long Way Down
