In other words, reading during circle time helps develop vocabulary, improve child ability to learn to read, and - perhaps most important - foster a lifelong love of books and reading. Developing that passion for reading is crucial, "Every time we read to a child, we're sending a 'pleasure' message to the child's brain," "You could even call it a commercial, conditioning the child to associate books and print with fun." Our goal as educators is to get kids involved with books.

When we encourage youth interest in books we give them an opportunity, to escape the of everyday life, we celebrate the power of imagination. And the results are truly fantastic. It might seem unlikely, but fantasy books can serve as powerful learning tools. When a child reads a fantasy title, he/she begins to question the world around him or her.

Fantasy books challenge the imagination in magical ways. When a child's perceptions of reality are blurred, their creativity can blossom. Now is a great time to encourage early literacy and remember that Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
