I can infer from the source that the opium is used to lure people into the secret society.<br>E. I guess it's because as the years went by the amount of police officers increased and the city became safer and people stopped getting murdered and the death rate was lower and so the population increased.<br><br>Source C: A departmental store advertisement for guns, published in the 1920s. At that time, firearms were openly available for sale in Singapore.<br><br>— I can infer from the source that firearms were common to have in the 1920s. I guess that since firearms were so openly available for sale, there must have been a lot of crime happening, like robbery, murder and others, all these are very serious as people can get seriously hurt or even die.</div>]]></description>
