I think the unit instilled in Meera a very important virtue , not to waste. We live in the world of abundance especially our children and this unit opened her eyes to so many things. We conducted our own set of inquiries at home and she has decided to be a water warrior. She take bath with minimum water now, wears her night clothes 2 nights against one earlier, takes only as much water in the glass/food in the plate so that she doesn’t waste, checks the didi at home about water usage and brings to my notice every now and then. Observes the eco friendly things and not so Eco friendly things and makes conscious decisions. She makes sure the waste is segregated and checks anyone who puts the garbage in wrong bin. It’s been a great learning for her

Varnit has learned a lot about waste, types of waste and the ways to handle waste. We are segregating waste at home. Varnit has started taking out peels and adding them to compost bin. He also visited the recycling centre and looking at different containers for different types of waste was a good learning for him. He also benefited a lot from the online virtual sessions and guest lectures. He talks about the Bandhwari landfill. This unit has instilled Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in him and he has learnt a lot about sustainablilty and the impact of human beings in their environment.

This is simply unbelievable to see how the kids are doing and participating so actively and seriously on every unit done in class .If i talk about the unit "Waste" I can only say that Anaisha had madly enjoyed this one ....no matter what but she has to do by going "Out of the box" .Anaisha learnt so much from this unit that every time she goes out anywhere she make sure to make a habit of not wasting food or things but also make aware others regarding this . I am highly impressed with her the way she does her work and projects . Knowing about waste and their facts it is very very important for kids to know in this real world .
Thank you teachers for all that support and guidance 🙏🏽

Reyansh has started his PYP journey with this unit and I am glad to share that he has not only enjoyed the whole process but has carried his understanding and learning to the real life. He is more careful now about waste of different materials and specially the food. He is very conscious now about the food waste and has guided his elder brother and other family members about the same. I am very thankful to his teachers to give him all the support and guidance. A very good unit, I must say.
Thank you so much..

Kabir's learning during the Unit WASTE

The unit presented multiple opportunities for Kabir to understand, investigate, reflect, and share his learning. He consciously implements his learning in the real world and has developed a habit of preventing waste wherever he can. He actively makes connections outside the school environment and shares his wonderings. The guest lectures and peer-to-peer collaborations helped him extend his learning. The highlight of the unit for me was the celebration of learning - the action the entire PYP2 undertook and how one action inspired another. Never was there a dull moment and the learning momentum just kept growing and has impacted his understanding of the concept immensely. We cannot thank the teachers enough for all the amazing efforts you are putting in. - Anuradha

Mira Agarwal( Our Takeaway from the unit "Waste")

The unit " Waste" was an extremely relevant topic picked up to be taught and discussed in PYP 2 program this year. There is a massive difference in Mira's understanding of the topic before and after the unit was taken up in the school. She is consciously doing her bit to contribute like taking smaller portions in food so as to avoid waste, She especially talks about Methane emmisions and their impact on the environment! , how waste is leading to global warming. She talks about recycling and when she was about to paint a glass bottle, she knew she was recycling it . Not only the kids, but even for us it was an eye opener about many things related to waste and waste management. In terms of practical application also, It was an eye opener as we realised how even little efforts on our parts can contribute to a big change. Thanks and best wishes for future units!

The " Waste"' Unit gave Angad deep insights and has increased his curiosity regarding the topics that directly affects our environment and surroundings like ocean pollution via plastic waste , food waste etc. He is more aware about water conservation and checks his water usage while taking shower or brushing his teeth. He doesnt waste any food on his plate and he encourages everyone he meets about usage of more sustainable and eco friendly materials and things like he has replaced his plastic toothbrush with bamboo toothbrush, and takes his metal straw with him everytime we go for a meal at the restaurant. He also prefers to hand carry his own water bottles instead of ordering plastic mineral water bottles while travelling.

A big thanks to the Teachers for making this unit so interesting and raising thier awareness.
