The whole group is divided into two bubbles, and this group was the “B” Bubble. Usually they are nine, but that day they were six, four boys and two girls. 

The class started at 8.15 am. Very early for them! They looked tired and asleep. The teacher said “hello” to everyone and some of them answered. After that she asked them to look for the photocopies to start working with them. Some of the students didn’t have the photocopies so the teacher had to go to the informatics room to make them. 

The class was about the body parts of a dinosaur, so the teacher played a video of a dinosaur’ song and started to sang and mimed the movements. 

They did two activities, in the first one they had to complete some words in the photocopies and in the second one they had to draw a monster and also paint it. 

One strategy that the teacher used is mime the movements while she was singing the song, so students could recognize the parts of the body. 

Another strategy is that teacher went bank by bank to verify the students did the activities, the teacher also decide first to work in groups (to do the photocopies’ activities) and I think this strategy was effective because if she led them to work individually I think they would get distracted as it happened when they were drawing. 

Finally she talked a lot in the 1L and I think this strategy wasn’t so effective; we can use other strategies to clarify the activities and to answer students’ questions. 

Some students were more engaged than others in the photocopies activities, all of them manifested a better interest in the drawing activity. Regarding the lesson they asked if they could play some game, so it would be a good idea to include a game related with body parts.  

I got into the classroom and the students that already know me said “Hello Miss.” (In their mother tongue) and there was a girl that was new for me that asked my name. 

This class was at 11.15 am. so the students were more active to work. The teacher asked (again) about the photocopies and it happened again that some students didn´t have them. 

The teacher started the class and in this occasion she used flashcards to review the vocabulary (dinosaur’ body parts) 

In this occasion the use of flashcards I think was successful because help students a lot to recognise each part of the body. The activities in group also were successful. 

The aspects that for me require a change, are those related with the routine. For example I would do a special greeting taking into account the context we are living. I think it good be a good idea to put in practice some song to say “hello”, speak about the day of the week or also about the weather. 

Also it is important to put in practise more games and art activities.

The class started, as usually the teacher said hello to students and she commented them that they would finish the photocopies and then they will play a game. So the students were exited to finish the homework.

One student didn´t have the photocopies. Then when all had them, they started working with the same topic dinosaur’s body parts, there was one activity related with numbers so the teacher made a review and students ask if they could sing the song they have just learnt before. So the teacher looked for the song in her computer and played it. 

Then they did the activities of the photocopies but the time wasn´t enough to play a game, so the students were sad :( 

What do you find useful of this lesson that will help you plan the next one? 

In this lesson I learnt that the time of the activities is very important. The teacher promised students to play a game but unfortunately the activities took more time than it was expected. So they couldn’t play and students were sad and disappointed.

A moment that I consider important was when a girl told me: ‘Miss in two days it will be my birthday’ (in her mother tongue) and it was important for me because the teacher didn’t give the opportunities to share this ‘news’. 

Another important fact is that there is a boy who has problem related with speech. So in all the observations I could see that their classmates help him every time. For example they said him ‘you have to look your photocopies, this ones (and they showed him the photocopies)’, ‘you have to draw’ etc. 

In this class I had the opportunity to meet students from bubble A. The teacher introduced me and students received me with enthusiasm. These students had not had English classes since the winter holidays, so they started to work with the same photocopies that bubble B had worked. 

A moment I consider important for the students was when they sang the dinosaur song, at the first time they only heard it, and some of them manifested that they remember that song; so the teacher play it twice and in the second time the teacher asked them to stand up and dance with the dinosaur. 

I noticed that the song motivated the students and after the song they seem to be more confident. They really enjoyed this song. 

In this class students from bubble A worked with the same photocopies about body parts. They finish one activity related with dinosaurs and numbers and then they had to draw a monster and write each part of its body. 

A metaphor for this lesson can be, “Learning is like building a house”. The student is the builder, while the teacher is the foreman. The builders are in charge of constructing their house, while the foreman can facilitate and oversee, helping along the way. In this class the teacher only guided them to create their monsters and help them to write each part of the body. The variety of monsters they created were amazing. 

In this case I worked with the bubble B, as they had already finished the photocopies, they could play a game. They had to create a monster using a dice so in this way the monster could have 3 heads or 6 arms etc. There were only two dices so they have to take turns. 

I don´t remember a quotation exactly but I can say that during the class the only body part they remember well was the fingers. 

In this lesson I had to start a new unit about toys, so I prepared flashcards and also a box with real toys. 

I started my class, I introduced and teach them a hello song, then we talked about the weather and I introduced them ROBI, a stuffed rabbit. After that I told them that Robi and I found a box, so we explore each toy, then we did a worksheet and as a closure we play a memory game. I also teach them a goodbye song, related with body parts that was the topic of the before unit. 

In this photo we are playing a game where one student had to take one toy of the line while the other students close their eyes. After that she/he had to say ready and the rest had to guess what toy was missing. They play it with the help of the flashcards. 

On Monday it was my second class. 

For this class I designed a lesson about colours. We started the class as usually with the hello song and we also finished the lesson with the goodbye song. I used a video about a rainbow and students enjoyed the lesson a lot. 

In this photo we can see the worksheet the students worked with, they had to paint the rainbow with the correct colours and using the numbers. 

In this class we did our routine as usually and then we read a story, “Corduroy”. I projected the images on the board and at the same time I was reading, they listen carefully and they show interested on the story. As the story was about a teddy bear that lost its button, we did a worksheet about a teddy bear where they had to use different colour paper to make buttons and then paste them on the teddy bear. As a closure we did a button necklace. 

In this class I try to do something different for the students, I ask to the teacher if they have read a story before and she told me that they never do that. So I see it like an opportunity, I decided to use a story book called Corduroy, it was about a teddy bear. I think that it was effective because after to read the story, during the class they remember easily that Corduroy was a teddy bear. During the story they also suggest ideas about what was going to happen next and they also explained what they seem on the board (because we use a projector to read the story)

We started the class as usually, and in the routine I designed 2 helpers, I put them the “helper necklace”, they help me during the lesson giving students the worksheets, the bingo cards and also with the weather. 

For this class I told the students that Robi and I had to go to the toyshop to buy presents, so we did a worksheet related with presents (toys). As a closure we played the Bingo game. They enjoyed it a lot! For this game I also prepared a poster where I put the first three winners. They told me that they wanted to play the game again. 

In this class I put in practice the “Helpers” necklace they were so enthusiastic to be the helpers that they started to have arguments to each other.  So I have to say that I committed a mistake asking “Who wants to be the helper?”, I promised to changes it for the next class, I will decide who will be the helper before the class. About the worksheet they did it as I expected and they enjoyed it. The activity they enjoyed the most was the BINGO game, they were so motivated, before playing the game, we revise the toys and I see that they were so engage that they remember all the names of the toys I was so surprised! 

For me this was a successful lesson! :)

For this class I told students that Robi and I went to the toyshop and we buy a present to them, puzzles. So they assemble the puzzles and pasted them on their books and then they painted them. After that we told them that we had another present, playdough. They enjoyed a lot playing with playdough, they designed their favourite toys. 

The aspects I consider successful are the puzzles because they solve them so easily and quickly that they asked me more to assemble. The use of playdough also was successful because they enjoyed making and designing their toys. 

On Monday it was my sixth and last lesson about toys. 

For this class we draw our favourite toy and then we go out to the playground to play a board game related with toys, the game was in groups of 4 students. 

An aspect I consider require a change is the classroom management, it happened that when we go out and finished the game they started to run around the playground and I lost the control of the class. 

In this class I started a new unit about family members, so I introduce the topic using Robi’s family. We did our routine as usually and then I introduced them a new song, the finger family song, we used it as a goodbye song.  In order to sing this song we made little puppets to put in our fingers, each finger had it role, for example the thumb was the father finger. 

In this class I find useful the finger family song, because they love putting puppets on their fingers, so I will use the same song as a closure in the next lessons. 

On Monday it was my class N° 8

In this class we did our routine as usually and then we worked with Robi’s family. After that we did a worksheet and we close the class with the finger family song.  

A moment that was important to me was when I went bank by bank helping them and seeing that all was doing the activities and some of the students told me how were integrated their family, some added their pets and other also added their hens! It was so beautiful! 

In this class we worked with a short story about a Monster family. They enjoyed a lot the story because the monsters were funny. Then we create the monsters with colour papers and we close the class with the family finger song. 

A moment that was important for the students was when we read the story, they said the colours of each monster and also the particularity, for example they said that the mother monster had a big shoulder.

In this class we danced our hello song and talk about the weather as usually. Then I showed students Robi’s family tree and also my family tree, we explored the different family members and then they create their own family tree. They did the tree with acrylics and then I provided them apples where they had to draw the members. Some of them added their pets, dogs, cats and also hens!

A quotation I remember was when I was showing them the flashcards and different kinds of families and one boy told me “Eso parece una caja mágica” it happened because I use a shoe box in order to put all the materials on it flashcards, images, worksheets, helpers necklaces, etc. Another event can be when I showed them the Robi’s family tree, I only point each apple and they told me the names of the members, I was surprised because they have already known all the family members. 

On Monday it was my class N° 11

In this class we did our routine and then we worked with different families. We did a worksheet where they had to read and connect the word with the correct family member. Some students could do the activity alone and others need more help. 

After that we played BINGO they really enjoyed this game. In this occasion I integrated concepts (toys-colours-family).

Then we close the class as usually. 

In the first photo we can see the Bingo cards, I designed them in Exel and I decided to integrate concepts so I put colours, toys and family members. 

Another aspect I consider important in this lesson is the bingo winners’ poster, here we put the name of the first three winners, and it motivated them to pay attention and tried to win. 

In this last class I decided to work with the family day so we made presents to them. I provided each student a house and they had to draw their families on it. This house had a thread to hang on the wall.

Then we sat together on the floor and I give them a present and I tell them that it was our last class, some of them was sad and asked me if I could stayed with them some more days :(  

In this short video we can see all the students sitting on the floor singing the finger family song. For this class they all knew very well the song and the fingers they had to use in each part.
