The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of dreams, that dreams can be big but so far, so close but so little. That everyone's dream may be fulfilled if one tries hard enough, not one dream is impossible to achieve. Your dream may not always be on your mind, but once you put your mind into fulfilling your dream, you will succeed and become better. Acknowledge every little step that you make on your dream, because sometimes peoples dreams are achieved on the journey to the end.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me a little bit of a scene from the Alchemist when Santiago is talking to someone (probably the alchemist, I don't really remember) and that person tells him he should fulfill his personal legend because otherwise he won't have a fulfilled life. The person he's talking to tells him that if he doesn't find his treasure and settles down with Fatima, it'll just sit there weighing him down until he does something about it, but at that point his life will be established and it'll be harder for him to leave, and then the treasure will be gone forever and he will live his life unfulfilled. The poem seems to be saying that if you have a dream and don't pursue it, it'll just sit there unresolved and you'll have to either live with that or do something about it, and that it's better to do it sooner because it'll turn rotten otherwise.

The poem Harlem by Langston Hughes reminds me of the idea that the older you get, the less is possible. Some people may think that when you age following dreams, wants, or ideas you had as a child is straying further out of grasp. This idea comes from how many other things pile to responsibility as you lose what wonder or curiosity or ability to explore that curiosity you once had. What becomes shadowed is seen as completely lost, rather than what can be rediscovered; what can be found aged and fermented to how you live now.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of the things in life that dont last forever, like blades of grass before mowing day, or your fingernails before you cut them. Water before it freezes over, and kimchi before it ferments. This poem is a reminder on how the little things in life can matter the most, and while some things last, not everything can.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of when I study hard for a upcoming test and I don't get the grade I hoped for. This is because in the poem Hughes wrote she describes her deferred dream as rotten meat and like a raisin in the sun. I believe this to be because when your dream gets deferred it hurts and you have to deal with that sorrow. Sometime it stinks and it sucks but just know you can get through that rough patch and achieve your dream.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of the move Tangled when the main character Rapunzel has a dream of seeing the lanterns on her birthday. Rapunzel's dream gets deferred or pushed back because her fake, evil mother keeps her from leaving her tower, allowing her to not have the opportunity to explore the world around her that is existing while she stays inside. When Rapunzel escapes to began her journey to watch the floating, glowing lanterns, there are challenges she faces that at some points, feels like there is no hope to get to her dream and her destination. Near the end of the film, Rapunzel finds herself in a hopeless situation as she could never have the experience of freedom others do. It feels as a raisin drying up in the sun and having little water to get back up.

The Poem “Harlem” by Langston Hughes reminds me of dreams. The poem talks about how a dream can dry up meaning like fade away or there is less motivation to achieving that dream. This could mean that you lost interest or some one or something made not want you to do any more. Also, what the poem talks about how a dream could by so heavy that its to hard to get to that goal. For example, your goal needs a lot of things that you lose track of what you are trying to achieve. This relates to my life is giving up on a goal because of the amount of work and time that I do not have so it became that heavy load that I could not follow or do.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of an idea about dreams. Dreams that you don't do anything to work towards will never become reality. If you really want something to happen, you have to actually try and take steps to achieve it or else it will never happen. Nobodys dream is impossible to get to if you work hard enough, and everyone has dreams about what they wish they had or what they could become. The dreams that you have are always closer then you think because if you really work hard, what you dream could become possible.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes talks about what happens to a dream deferred. I think that in life when a dream is deferred it never dies but shrivels and gets holed up in the back of your mind always there never leaving. When you find something you really want you always want to chase it and never want to give it up but when life gets in the way you have to put it behind you to do something else. Your dream never really goes away it is always your dream and can't just disappear when you have to give it up. In the poem it makes a connection to a raisin in the sun and how its shriveled up and dried but is the raisin gone no. In the real world we find our dreams and see what truly calls us but we can never give it up its always there pushing you forward.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of Highschool athletics. Every student athlete That wants to continue the sport after high school, doesn't always get to. This stuck out to me specifically because I'm going to be a junior and it feels like it has been going so fast. Another thing about sports that reminds me of this is people losing the final game like the super bowl or like the world cup, Idk how upsetting it could be to lose in something you're normally good at, at that big of a scale.

Like for example when he says "Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun" to me that means if you don't put in the work to try and archive and fulfill your dreams, then your dreams could become a faint memory in your head and you wont have the motivation to accomplish it. The poem also shines light on that if your dream is so heavy, it could sag and bring you down. And possible cause you to lose motivation to work to make that dream happen.

The poem “Harlem” by Langston Hughes reminds me of the idea of which things tend to stick around for a long time. How when people start thinking about something is when the ideas such as boring, nuisance, bitter, happy, or dangerous become a thought. A thought one has never disappears but stays in their mind, an action someone does never truly disappears, it stays as an action or a thought in someone else’s mind. And this poem is summing up the confusion in which people have when something happens, something that they will remember for a while.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of the words that Robert F. Kennedy spoke, "only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly." I believe that theses quotes correlate heavily because of how they are created to help provoke people to chase their dreams. The poem "Harlem" writes about how a dream you once had is able to fade because of opportunities or your drive to reach that dream. While the quote from Robert F. Kennedy writes how people who aren't afraid to strive towards a dream will be able to eventually get there.

You never know when you might be able to follow your dreams again, and they might change, die, or something else. It also reminds me of the fact that if you let a dream "defer," it will shrivel and rescind into the back of your mind and you might not be able to act on them again.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of an idea that i have been thinking about, the idea of how the same can have reactants can have adversely different reactions. It is hard to explain this without using a specific example. If 3 people have worked for a highly prestigious company for years then suddenly get laid off, they may all react differently. Person A might be content with being laid off and understand that it might be what is best for them. Person B may become discouraged and devastated by the thought of restarting at a new company and become resistant starting again. While person C could have an entirely different outcome with their thoughts and goal. My point is that all of these people have different reactions from the same situation that was forced upon them, what caused Person A to be become content while Person B is hesitant? Life is unpredictable and when a dream is deferred there can be a multitude of outcomes to how that dream acts.

(I started thinking about this considering childhood trauma and how different people can react to similar trauma.)

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of a book called "The Alchemist" and Santiago's journey to fulfill his personal legend because its his dream and the obstacle's he went through even though he went through a lot he never gave up. what this relates to real life because as time goes by your dreams are gonna be harder to achieve, to actively pursuit our dreams before they fade away and to never give up on them.

The poem ''Harlem'' by Langston Hughes reminds me of dreams. The reason for that is dreams get placed into your mind and you tell yourself to go out and pursue it but sometimes there are things that make your dream harder to achieve then you originally thought but never impossible if you have a bigger dream then it might be harder to achieve and if it is a smaller dream it might be easier to achieve then you’d think it would be.

The poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes makes me think about how the mind is a funny thing. Our minds can think of extraordinary things, and in the poem it wonders what happens when a dream is deferred. We everyday use our mind to accomplish tasks, and do everything we normally do on a daily basis. Sometimes our minds create a dream from something that seems to give us hope. And that hope is what makes us want that dream more. The poem discusses what might happen if someone were to shrink the importance of their dream, if they were to just forget about it. This poem makes me think about a lot because there are so many examples of people dreaming. Everyone dreams, but only some actually accomplish their dreams. One movie in particular that this poem reminded me of is the princess and the frog, because not only is it one of my favorite movies, but the main character Tiana has a dream of owning a restaurant. Tiana has to work hard for her dream which is what makes her journey realistic. She saves her money and has to make difficult decisions to get what she wants. Tiana's dream started when she was very young. It started when she cooked with her father, and they would dream together about owning a restaurant. Dreams start with a memory, or a hope. They start with someone realizing what they want, and when they accomplish their dream they can dream more. When someone deferrers their dream it stays in their head as something they never accomplished, and there isn't room for more dreams. Its like when someone buys a book and there is only one spot left, if they fill up the book shelf with books they'll never read they wont ever have room for more books. Of course they could always get rid of the books on the shelf they they never read. But will they read the new books? What will happen to those old books they never read and just gave away?

the poem "Harlem" by Langston Hughes reminds me of passion and dream but mostly on how you make it come true. When you have a dream you can't let it dry out and let it be a raisin. You must love a dream so much that you want it to be fulfilled or just a goal to fulfill. When I have a goal that I want to fulfill, I take steps at a time and you can't rush or it may fail. This poem also reminds me about soccer/sports. Every person that plays sport has a plan or dream to keep playing the sport they deeply love after High school. But sometimes that's not always what happens and it's really heart breaking because for some people sport is a way to get away from toxic households, trauma or their feelings. It can be a distraction from many things and it can be heart breaking if they can't do the only thing they want to do. A dream is for everyone and if you want it to come true you must work hard and earn it.
