Rising Action: Ian almost gets mugged on his way to the soup kitchen his first time going there but a man named sarge protects him.

Ian becomes good friends with Sarge.

Ian finishes his volunteering hours and learns a lot from the people from the soup kitchen.

Climax: I think the climax is when Berta takes Ian to church where Ian learns about  Berta and what happened in Guatemala and Ian learnt every thing he wanted to learn from Sarge and Berta.

Falling Action: Sarge was not willing to get help for his alcohol problem, but then Ian changed his mind and Sarge wanted to get better so he went to a rehab Mac the chef of the Club recommended

Conclusion: Ian tries to convince Sarge that his life is worth living and tries to make Sarge fell better about what happened in Rwanda.
