Some successes I had with this artwork was the use of complimentary colors and the harmony of colors. The different shades of green and blue really helped the canvas and art become brighter. I learned more about how to properly shade and add a more realistic look to the painting through shading. A struggle I had in this artwork was the shading since I am learning more how to properly execute this skill. It was hard to shade the inside of the pupil with the black and grey because these are darker shades which made it more difficult for me. If I could do this artwork over I would shade more from the inside of the eye making it darker to the outside being lighter, and I would also add different colors to the mountain scene to make that part of the painting more realistic.

Some successes I had with this artwork was my use of line direction. The way I made the lines flow showed how the water moves making the artwork more realistic. I learned more about how to add different colors to the shading, for example adding red with the black to make it a darker shade or a light purple with white for the lighter shades. Before I thought you would shade with plain colors but I learned how to shade with all different color combinations. A struggle I had with this artwork was making the background and foreground blend together and compliment each other. When I was drawing, it always seemed like there was a difference between the two and it didn't look like the artwork was together. If I could do this over I would use darker colors over the artwork to give it a darker tone and mood to the art. This way people would be more intrigued and interested in the artwork.

Some successes I had with this artwork was effectively showing growth throughout the project and making the potted plant look realistic. I added a variety of colors to the plant making it a main focal point of the project. I learned more about how to draw animals and make them look realistic with the fur and the designs that they have. This will help me in the future when I draw animals again in the class. A struggle I had with this artwork was the background because the sky is a main part of the artwork and it was hard to make it look smooth and clean. I struggled with adding different colors and shades to make the sky look realistic. If I could do this artwork over I would change the way I did the sky and maybe add more colors to the giraffe that would normally not be on it like green or purple to make the giraffe more interesting and greater focal point of the project.

Some successes I had with this artwork was shading the skier. The skier was the main focal point of the artwork, and the effective shading helped the skier come out of the artwork. I think I really improved on shading throughout the semester. I learned more about how to make hair look more realistic and how to make backgrounds and nature blend in the artwork. A struggle I had with this piece was the background and making the mountain and hills look more realistic. I struggled with the colors of the hills since they are white I didn't know what specific color would make them look like hills. If I could do this artwork over I wouldn't change a lot because I really love the outcome of the artwork, but I would fix the mountains and make them look more in the distance.

On a 18 by 12 inch paper, start by drawing the outline of the lips. To Create the outline of the lips use a light pastel color to start. To create the outline for the top lip make a shape that curves like a cupids bow. For the bottom lip draw a curved line that goes no farther then the end of the top lip. To complete the opening of the mouth create a line through the lips about halfway. This is the going to be the darkest shade for the lips.

Go in to the shape of the lips with a white oil pastel to shade the lighter parts of the lips. You should shade with lighter colors in the center of the lips and on the top and bottom. Now, you can start to shade the darker parts of the lips. To do this go in with a dark purple and trace the outline of the lips and the opening of the mouth. From the parting of the lips shade using the dark purple from there and out to the end of the lips. The darkest shades will be the sides of the lips and where the lips part.

Now that the basic parts of the lips are shaded, you can go in with different colors. I recommend colors that blend well together with different shades. I used a light purple, a green, a dark blue and a light pink. Continue to color in the center of the lips and top and bottom with the light purple and pink while blending some darker elements into it as well. On the sides and parting of the lips use the darker greens blue and purple with some blending of lighter colors.
