I believe the archetypes in the giant story where an evil figure but a good heart because the giant began as selfish and was shown as evil, but had a good heart and wanted the children to just play in the garden. In the story about the bird and the rose there is an archetype of the journey the bird had to go through to get the red rose for the boy. The story about the prince had an archetype of death and rebirth because the happy prince died and became a statue who was actually alive again. Overall the stories where good and showed that everyone’s is living in a fantasy world and don’t realize how much they should appreciate the small things that mean the most.

I noticed that the archetype in the story is about a giant that wants everything for it self and at first the giant seems like a antagonist in the story. I like the that the story is about giants because now a days there is not that much bookabout fairytale creatures

In the stories there were heroes in each of them. The heroes were usually some sort of step below of someone or something they believed in. In the story about the rose, the nightingale was the hero and the student was sort of a jester because he got the nightingale killed knowing that he did and didn’t care that the girl didn’t want the rose. The red rose could’ve represented the blood and sacrifice of the nightingale

In the stories, the archetypes I noticed were the journey, an evil figure but good at heart, and death and rebirth. "Nightingale and the Rose" showed the journey. The bird wanted only to make this boy happy by giving him a red rose, which, when found, came at the price of her life. I wasn't the biggest fan of this story. I understand that it's a fairy tale, but the bird was really gullible to give her life for a rose that the boy ended up failing to win the girl over with. I don't really understand why the bird, who loved life, would give up everything for a rose."The Selfish Giant" showed an evil figure but good at heart. The giant never shared anything with anyone. He was the only one who could take advantage of his things. Everyone was afraid of him. But, once he realized how selfish he was being, he wanted everyone to be happy. I really liked this story. It reminded me of something you could actually see happening in everyday life. Everyone has room to grow, even in death. "The Happy Prince" showed the archetype of death and rebirth. The happy prince died, but was reborn into a statue. I also liked this story a lot. It brought the ugly that is reality, which the other stories didn't do as well. The prince was so sad to see all of the heartbreak and sorrow in his supposedly "happy" kingdom. You want to be able to help everyone, but you just can't do it all yourself. People help people.

Throughout the fairytales there were archetypes such as the “friendly beast”,portrayed in The Selfish Giant by the giant who was kind to all the children. Another archetype that was present is “white goddess” in The Nightingale and the Rose as the student was attracted to the daughter and tried to pursue her love by getting her the red rose. Overrall, I liked that the stories all had a certain type of message within them. I didn’t like how the giant and the prince died towards the end of their stories.

In the story The Selfish Giant there is the archetype was Death and rebirth. For the Nightingale and the rose , I said that the archetype was colors. For The Happy prince I said it had the archetype was journey and death and rebirth.
I liked that the stories had lessons and a deeper meaning to them. The Selfish Giant taught that you should be nice to be treated nice back and to have good things. The Nightingale and the rose taught that people think love isn't really evreything if you don't have it back.

In Oscar Wilde’s stories, I noticed the following archetypesDeath and Rebirth” (The Selfish Giant and The Happy Prince), “Colours” and “The Journey” (The Nightingale and the Rose)

I enjoyed reading the stories - especially “The Nightingale and the Rose” because it was quite interesting to me. The concept of searching for a red rose and going to each tree, then finding the red rose and the price for it is death is intriguing. As she pushed the thorn deeper, she began to fade away and her songs with her. The student tried to take the girl to the dance and she denied because she was ungrateful and wanted real jewels. The story teaches you that it’s not always worth going through the troubles to impress when sometimes the opposing person will end up ungrateful.

Victoria Adler
In the fairy tales by Oscar Wilde, I noticed multiple archetypes. The archetypes I noticed were “the Journey”, “Death and Rebirth”, and “The Evil Figure with Ultimately Good Heart”. The archetype, “the Journey” was represented in “The Nighingale and the Rose” because the Nightgale was traveling to mutiple trees to find the red rose to help out the boy to give to the girl he loved. The bird tried everything she could and sacrificed her life for the man to be happy with his lover. The archetype, “The Evil Figure with Ultimately Good Heart”, was represented in “The Selfish Giant” because the giant was very rude to everyone around him but on the inside, he was a nice and friendly person. The archetype “Death and Rebirth” was showed in “The Happy Prince” because when the man wasn’t alive, he had everything and he wasn’t happy, but when he died, he was a statue and his life was wacthign the misery of the people. I like all the stories because they showed how people change and how they don’t realize how much something means to them when it is taken away.

The fairy tales written by Oscar Wilde have a lot of archetypes within them. For example, in "The Selfish Giant," some archetypes that are present in the story are the giant. The giant is a creature in the story who changes through it. I think the obvious changes of seasons through the story act like symbolic with traits that the characters have.
