You are not required to purchase a textbook for Core Maths but if you would like a book for home for more explanations and practice, this would be a good option

Scientific Calculator

You will require a scientific calculator for Core Maths. If you are thinking of getting a new calculator, we would recommend the Casio fx-991 CW for Core Maths as it has some additional useful functions to other models

Before your first Core Maths lesson, please complete the following:

Read this article and pause when you get to the first set of questions (don’t scroll to the answers!):
1. Answer the questions (bullet point notes are fine) or if you can’t answer a question, note down ideas about how you might work out the answer.
2. Once you have done this, read through the answers provided and reflect on similarities and differences to your approach.
3. Bring your notes to your first lesson and be ready to discuss your reflections.
