Businesses can make a positive difference in the world by having a good business philosophy. Businesses should have a strong balance between making profits and being socially responsible. Being socially responsible means participating in activities that benefits society. For example, clothing companies should make sure their factories are environmentally friendly. Waste water should go through a water waste treatment plant instead of being dumped back in the river. Clothing companies can use recycled fabrics such as recycled cotton, polyester, and nylon.

A business that is socially responsible is Pepsi Co. Pepsi Co manages its water intake by recycling 75 percent of the water it uses. Instead of purifying its Gatorade bottles with water, they use air.

Volkswagen is a company that is not socially responsible. Volkswagen cheated on their emissions test. Volkswagen did not care that their car was poisoning the planet. The company's only focus was to be the world's number one car maker and make the most profits.

One example is making sure their workers are all getting the pay that they deserve, not making them work in a factory for next to nothing. They can also make sure that the working conditions are good for the workers. An example of an irresponsible company is H&M, a company that still uses sweatshops and does not pay their workers well, with awful working conditions. A company that is responsible would be Starbucks as they make sure they pay the farmers with what they deserve to be paid with. They also grow the coffee beans organically meaning that they have a lower impact on the world.

An example of a business that is socially responsible is Pepsi. Pepsi reuses about 75 percent of the water that it uses and since 2006 it has eliminated approximately 14 billion litres of water from what it used to use. This is socially responsible because this company is looking at how it can positively benefit the world by reusing and reducing the amount of water used. It watches its impact on the environment and how it can be a positive one. A business that is not socially responsible is Walmart. This is because they

For example, they can make a policy of never employing under-age labor and not forcing their workers to do overtime work. They can also give a portion of their sales to people in need or going towards a non-profit charity.
An example of a business that is socially responsible is PepsiCo. They recycle 75 percent of the water that they use, and use air purification instead of water purification for their Gatorade bottles. By using this system, PepsiCo has saved 14 billion liters of water over the course of 9 years. They have also partnered with NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and managed to provide 3 million people around the world over the span of 5 years. An example of a business that is not socially responsible is Volkswagen. They promoted their vehicles as being
"environmentally friendly" and instead cheated during tests by turning on a "test mode" which concealed the "dirty mode" that was sold to consumers and in fact "emitted 40 times the legal amount of nitrogen oxide" (forbes.com)

This would be good because the businesses that make a lot of profit and money from the things they sell can use their leftover money and donate it to a charity. They can also use their money on more environmental friendly materials for their product which will give a great positive impact in this world. An example of a socially responsible business is the car company BMW.

There are many different ways that a business can make a positive difference in our world. Businesses provide us good and services that can be essential for life. Profit is all companies main goal, but being socially responsible is very important too. For example a business can make profit and take care of the environment. Many companies such as google are becoming socially responsible because they are switching from non renewable energy to green energy. This is a positive direction to make our world a better place.

Businesses can make a positive difference in this world in multiple ways. Businesses provide people with goods and/or services that can help people in different ways. The main reason businesses are usually created is to satisfy people and make their lives easier and to create income and profit. An example of a business that is socially responsible is the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). In 2013, RBC was named "Top 50 most socially responsible businesses in Canada". RBC is socially responsible because they are helpful environmentally, socially, and politically. An example of a business that is not responsible is Walmart. Especially in the United States, Walmart receives multiple complaints for their discrimination, human rights violations, environmental crimes, etc. Therefore, it is very important that a business is socially responsible so they can satisfy all customers needs, wants, and demands and still create profit at the same time.

Also a positive business provides a workplace for the economy. An example of an business that is socially responsible would be Ben and Jerrys. Ben and Jerrys is a socially responsible business because according to http://www.benjerry.com/ they use of fair trade, fair trade is meant to solve problems associating with regulating the production off goods and services in foreign countries. Also there is no artificial growth hormone in their ice creme, and they have also created a foundation called Ben and Jerrys Foundation to encourage their employees to give back to the community. An example of a company that is not socially responsible would be Walmart.

Businesses these days are more aware of their actions and how it could potentially affect society. In the past, businesses were focussed on profits and money. While this is what can make a business successful, it is not a good mindset as they will try to get a profit from the expenses of others. Businesses these days are becoming more involved with their customers and they care about their image in society. Businesses today now see the value of getting closer to their customers and interact with the community. Businesses can give back to the community and help the people in need. A business can use their popularity and brand to raise money for the people in need. They can give back to the community by supporting the needy and helping to take care of the environment. The materials and production in companies cause negative effects in the environment. They can become more aware of the affects and change their materials and make production more efficient to make less of an impact on the environment. The company 3M has become more socially responsible as they employ 90,000 employees, funded $67 million to the 3MGives program that focusses on the community and environment, and they also have education initiatives to inspire the new generation with science and technology. A socially irresponsible company would be Volkswagen that rigged its emissions test to pass even though it was meant to be a fail. This would have caused major emissions and in turn would severely affect the environment.

It is important that businesses follow certain guidelines such as those imposed by the UN declaration of human rights. The most crucial responsibility a business has is the rights of their workers which include the ability to create and join unions, a sustainable wage, and safe working conditions. Also, staying within the law and not going to far when it comes to competition helps keep a modest business. Healthy competition is imperative to the market and maintaining stability, but exploiting power will hurt other businesses thus making a negative difference. Finally, our earth belongs to everyone and is a privilege that we were given when we were born. Therefore, we should be stewards of the earth and respect the earth's resources and acknowledge things like climate change when it comes to a business model.

Responsible Business: Amazon.

Ways that businesses are making a positive difference in this world is they are providing people with different kinds of goods and services so people can satisfy their needs and wants. Another positive difference is there are some types of businesses that are nonprofit organizations. Which means that the money they make goes to a charity that they are supporting. For an example, Unicef is a nonprofit organization that aims to save the lives of children all around the world. One more positive difference is businesses are giving a lot of people around the world jobs. The money that the people make from working they will then spend it on other businesses which will then eventually go into the economy, and thereby helping to support the economy.

An example of a business that is socially responsible is Nike. This store created a program called "reuse-a-shoe." This program wants people to bring their worn out shoes. Which then gets turned into playing surfaces like basketball courts and track fields. A vision that Nike has is to soon make their products without any waste.

An example of a business that is socially not responsible is Sea World. Sea World has treated their marine life horribly, especially their orca whales. Seas World had disrespect their orcas because instead of letting them live their lives in the ocean, they took them and kept the orcas in a small space which is not healthy for them.

http://6abc.com/business/10-compaines-making-a-positive-impact-on-the-environment/1281558/

https://www.cheatsheet.com/business/the-top-5-worst-corporate-citizens-in-the-u-s.html/?a=viewall

Business that are socially responsible make their positive differences in this world by either indirectly or directly helping out their fellow communities with a strive for change. They are able to provide services and goods while satisfying the basics needs of consumers all around the world. Their objective is not to maximize their profits rather it is to engage and better our society and communities within.

A great example of a business that is socially responsible would be Tim Hortons. In their plans of social responsibility, as part of its green building design, the company now requires its Canadian millwork suppliers to use only wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council in Canadian restaurants. Also, by expanding recycling and waste-diversion programs at its distribution centres, it is currently diverting 80 percent of its waste from landfill and, Tim Horton’s aims to have 17,000 economically disadvantaged children participate in Tim Horton Children’s Foundation camps and programs by the end of 2015.

Unlike the company Joe Fresh, which places their workers in structurally unsafe factories with detrimental health risks and low pay-checks, with few to no waste water treatments, and unsafe chemicals being processed incorrectly, it's quite easy to distinguish the difference between socially responsible companies and ones that are not.

Business can provide the world with goods and services that may be essential needs or wants. Business may help provide us with beneficial items to satisfy our needs. It creates income and profit and gives people the chance to make the world a better place. Especially businesses that are providing us with our needs while being aware of our earth, which brings eco friendly products to a much high demand these days. An example of a socially responsible business is apple, as one of the worlds leading technology companies they take their global responsibilities seriously. Not only does the company encourage its IT partners to take advantage of renewable energy but is now packaging 99% recycled paper products. An example of a non social responsible business is Volkswagen, they are hated by many other companies for hurting the environment with the full knowledge of doing so and doing nothing about it. They even lie about their image and claim that they are a green company when they aren’t

To be truly successful in business, you must create value beyond profits for your shareholders. It’s about making a positive change in the world and inspiring others to do the same. This can be done in many varying ways. Finding a purpose is important. Having a striving force to keep your company motivated and determined to meet something more impactful than a sum of money is a perfect example of achieving this. Another positive difference businesses can make are with the forwarding of innovative and prosperous values and ideals to implement into and aid with society. These two simplicite yet important foundational aspects of a business is a way they can make a positive influence and difference in this world.

A great example of a business that is socially responsible would be The Giving Keys. As a "pay it forward company," The Giving Keys employs people who are transitioning out of homelessness and provides full-time jobs at a living wage. With each job, the company offers benefits as well as paid time off for housing, education and case-management appointments. The company also prioritizes economic growth and preservation by reducing wastes and reusing recycled materials. They offer a fair wage to their employees and insure a safe working environment. This is why The Giving Keyes company is socially responsible.

However there are many businesses that are not socially responsible. A perfect example would be The Volkswagen Company. This case represents above all an absolute failure in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility. The company deliberately set out to design a means to circumvent emissions control—a stratagem known at the highest levels—with the aim of giving the company an unfair advantage over its competitors that made it the world’s number one car maker, in large part on the basis of its supposedly environmentally friendly cars; meanwhile it was poisoning the planet. They produce wastes and do not properly dispose of them, contaminating the areas nearby. It is for these reasons that the company is not truly socially responsible.

Many companies actually care how their company is running and how they can improve their business to impact the world in the right way. Lots of businesses these days only care about profit and making it to the top, in hindsight they should try to help improve the world instead of thinking about their own gain. Helping can gain you exposer to help further their brand as whole, with the good reputation they would receive.

An example of a socially responsible business is Budweiser, they were able to realize that people needed help during the Hurricane Harvey relief and helped them gain access to clean water that they could get.

An unsocially responsible company would be Walmart.

Businesses can have many different impacts on society as they provide us with goods/services that are important for our survival and can also inspire us to make the world a better place. Nowadays, consumers not only focus on the quality of the product, but they look at all different aspects such as what the company supports, how they create their products and the impact they have on the environment. All of these factors indicate whether a business is socially responsible or not.

An example of a socially responsible business is TOMS shoes. This business made a promise that for every pair of shoes sold, one pair would be donated to a child in need. This allows consumers to feel good about what they're buying because as a result of their purchase they are helping a child in need.

However, there are also many companies that are unsocially responsible. An example of this would be, H&M as they own many factories in Bangladesh in which poor labour is continuously practiced. Due to the unfair labour practices, a big number of factory workers have lost their lives.
