Connection:
This video connects to the pseudoscience belief Agenticity, because we are assigning power or meaning to agents which cannot be seen by humans. Many people believe in the idea of Demons in todays society, it is especially common in religious communities. Demons are thought to be entities that carry high levels of power and strength, though they are not seen as being divine enough to be considered a "God". There have been beliefs of Demons seen back hundreds of years ago and many theories have been proposed about the idea of them. Applying critical thinking can be very useful - in evaluating each source, their evidence they have collected, and recognizing assumptions, emotions and biases in order to come up with the best explanation. Applying critical thinking can help debunk false cases attached to the idea of demons and demonic possession. Another reason for belief in this case could be unexplained, as we can experience something out of the normal and try to come up with an explanation even though it may not be the actual cause.

This story is one of many where they do believe Anneliese became possessed by demons and only an exorcism would help her in the end. This video can be connected to Agenticity and Simplicity. Agenticity is shown here through giving power and meaning to unseen agents, which are the demons. Demons are thought to be the reason behind her becoming unwell and acting strange. Simplicity is seen in the video through the simple answer of her being possessed, where the scientific answer could be seen as a brain disorder or mental disorder causing her to see or hear things that are not there. The Conjuring movies have become some of the most popular Horror movies in todays society, with true back stories and experiences related to all 3 of the movies. Ed and Lorraine Warren are very well known in the Demonic possession and exorcism community as they have helped many people with their experiences. This video can be connected to the idea of Agenticity again, as the main source of the activity seen and experienced is from demons, which are things we can not see but we associate power to them. As well, the idea of Unexplained can be related to this video because they experienced a lot of strange events in the beginning, which later progressed into more serious events. These events were unexplainable, but when events life these tend to happen you want to find the best possible explanation to help debunk the situation. The belief associated with this website is Agenticity & Ideology. Agenticity can be associated because we are giving meaning to invisible agents, in this case Demons. Ideology can be seen within this website as there are many different cultural beliefs associated with Demons. They have different perspectives of how they can be portrayed by humans, an example being Christians believe Demons as being fallen angels who followed Lucifer to Hell and are seen as being evil in nature. Though non-Christians and pre-Christian cultures perceive Demons as not necessarily good or evil. This article provides Simplicity as a reason for belief. Many people seen by Richard Gallagher were not seen as being possessed by Demons, but actually suffering from mental disorders, causing them to believe they were possessed. This can be related to simplicity because the simple answer for these people is they are in fact possessed, as they are experiencing hallucinations and hearing people speaking to them. When the scientific reason is the person is diagnosed with mental illnesses causing them to experience hallucinations and hear things when they are not really there. This house has been nicknamed the Demon House, as many scary and unexplainable stories have been said to take place here such as a child crawling up the walls and levitating. This house was bought by a Zach Bagans in 2014, who is a paranormal investigator. He filmed The Demon House which is a documentary taking place within the house and talks about all the events happening in this house, including interviews with the families who lived there previously. Zach later demolished the house in 2016, saying it was too evil and he did not want anything bad to happen to anyone else who came in contact with that house.

This picture can be related to the ideas of belief of Unexplained & Agenticity. The belief of the unexplained can be described here as many of the events they witness within the house are unexplainable. When situations are unexplainable, humans naturally try and come up with a reasoning behind it to try and explain what had happened.  Agenticity can also be seen here as they are talking about demonic possession and the idea of demons being the reason behind all the strange and scary events taking place. A red flag seen within this picture is Appeal to Authority, as they are using a celebrity endorsement to make a documentary regarding the house. This can make the events described seem more believable to the viewers. The most surprising thing I learned about this topic was the different ideas of Demons that are seen by religions around the world. I figured all religions thought Demons were seen as evil but that is not the care, some seem them as nor good or bad. They were even be seen to provide useful knowledge to us as humans such as astrology.

2. Though I have never experienced anything to the extent of Demons or Demonic possession, I have always been very fascinated in the idea of them. I am a huge horror movie fanatic so the idea of Demons appears a lot within these types of movies. I think it is cool to have an element of fear and interest when looking into a topic such as Demons.

3. The most interesting research I found was the picture related to "The Demon House". The story behind the house really interested me and I even made a point the watch the documentary talking about the house. It is very interesting to hear their stories about their experiences with Demons and being within the house and the impacts it had on their lives.

4. From this research I am most likely to remember that even with all these stories of alleged Demons and demonic possession, there is no scientific evidence to prove this point. Skepticism and critical thinking are very important aspects in learning about this topic.

5. The most harmful pseudoscience belief I think is Agenticity, as you are giving power and meaning to unseen agents, which can tend to build up false ideas. This can be harmful as some may become obsessed with different ideas of "agents" and could potentially take over their rational mindset. The least harmful pseudoscience belief I think is Patternicity, as this is just a natural thing humans tend to do. Seeing different patterns within an image can be altered by having different mindsets.

6. If I could pass on any knowledge to my family, it would be that Demons and demonic possession can be a serious topic to some. Even though everyone has different outlooks and beliefs on the topic, it is always important to keep an open mind and apply skepticism and critical thinking when reviewing this topic.
