These three stories all teach Connor the idea of human beings who can be different from what they were known for or what other people think about them. For example, the apothecary from the second story may sound evil, but he was a healer and the parson may seem kind, but his thinking was wrong, and refused to let the apothecary have the yew tree. This was even written in the last paragraph when the monster explains why he told Connor those stories.

The monster also tries to teach Connor that people are different from what they are or look like on the outside, for example the queen who had been framed for being a witch and killing the princes bride, but the prince was the undercover killer.

For example Connor has been wanting his mum to die and for his mental pain and agony to go away, but he knows that this is a very bad thought and acts in a positive way about his mum living . In the story the monster tells Connor "sometimes people need to lie to themselves most of all. In the second story the monster teaches him that belief in medicine is half the cure, and that he should believe that his mum is going to be cured by the medicine, so it will get rid of half his worries. In the third story the monster teaches Connor that he is the invisible man, and that if he doesn't want to be invisible he needs to make people see him.

These stories are different because, they all teach Connor different things and have different types of characters trying to portray the lesson of the story. In the first story Connor is being taught that some people need to lie to themselves and this is because, his mum had recently gone to hospital for her illness and he has been lying to himself that she will be ok and that the medicine will make her feel better. In the second story Connor is being taught that belief is half of the cure to get better, and this is because his mums illness had gotten worse and will continue to do so, which means that he needs to believe that the medicine that she is being given will make her feel better. Finally in the last story he is being taught that if he wants to be seen, he needs to make people see him , and this is because his mum is slowly passing away so she will not be in his life to comfort him, which means that he needs for people to see him and to make friends in the lonely and sad world he lives in.

They all somehow relate to the problems and emotions Conor has towards losing his mother, as well as the difficulties he's facing in his life because of that. The stories always end in a way that Conor hadn't anticipated, showing him that the better solution to his problems may be something different from what he had been thinking. Conor thinks the monster has come to heal his mother, but he has come to tell the stories, indirectly healing or helping him, and helping him to learn to heal himself.

The first story teaches him of the importance of truth, and how he must face the truth of his own emotions and problems. The second story focuses on accepting change, reflecting how Conor must accept the change of his mother's passing before he can properly let go. The third story reflects Conor's bullying and isolation at school, with the allegory of an invisible man and what he must do to become visible again -- again focusing on accepting truth and change. Although these stories all reflect on Conor's grief, loss, and emotions, they all have a different purpose and focuses on a certain point of his life.

The three stories are all linked to create a key moral that helps Conor face the problem he is facing at home and school. Conor learns important life lessons through storytelling to overcome his current challenges. One example of the story is invisibility. Conor learns about how to not stay invisible anymore at school and keep on getting bullied at school so the monster helped Conor realise that he can't stay low and invisibly and needs to be seen by everyone. Some other thing that the monster helped Conor realise is how to face the truth. This is told in the last story, and the monster slowly started talking to Conor about how to face reality and that it is alright to say what is inside your mind to others. This is when at the end of the book Conor says "I don't want you to go". All the stories are linked to create a bigger moral of overcoming life problems.

The three stories within 'A Monster Calls' are all linked to form a key message that allows Conor to feel the connection between his personal struggles and the lessons that the stories teach him. To illustrate this point, the stories told by the monster help to illustrate Conor's feeling of invisibility among his peers and how being 'seen' leads him to feel even more lonely- this is told through the story of 'The Invisible Man'. On another note, Conor also learns to overcome his grief through the lessons of telling the truth and living on actions, not beliefs. The first story told by the monster teaches Conor how he must accept the truth, the most important way he can overcome his grief, whilst the second story outlines how it is significantly important to live on actions rather than beliefs; giving up everything you believe in will deter you from acting upon it. Thus, the three stories told in 'A Monster Calls' highlight the personal struggles that Conor is dealing with, and it is through the morals taught through these stories that Conor is able to accept how he can deal with his struggles.

While the three stories told within 'A Monster Calls' may be similar in the context of the morals that they educate, they are also different as they have a different way of telling these morals. It can also be noted the particular point in the text where the stories are told, as they seem to support Conor in a time where he is particularly struggling with something. For example, when Conor accepts the belief that his mother will be treated with a new medicine, his emotions inform him that he may be making the wrong decision believing solely on what he thinks rather than what is actually happening. This is when the second story is told, teaching Conor the real meaning of accepting the truth rather than depending on beliefs. Therefore, the three stories seem to be different due to the fact that they are told at different points in the story, much akin to the variations of Conor's emotional struggle as he deals with his problems throughout the text.
