Why Do Families Change? This book explains what the words "separation" and "divorce" mean. The author also explains that people in relationships sometimes take a break and that it is OKAY. The story clearly states that some people stay together forever and some do not, that life is unexpected. Also says that people cannot take it personally when they see two people in a relationship separate, because it happens. It is intended for the reader to understand that separating/divorcing is a normal thing and that you cannot do anything to change the situation.

1. Have students take a picture of themselves. (might need a friend to take one of them) and print out the pictures. When printed, give each student their picture and have them write out on a digital graph like google docs or seesaw the positive things they notice about themself.
2. After they come up with a list of things they see, have them dive deeper and write down their qualities, what makes them special, talents, hobbies, etc.
3. Have them put the paper with all those positive things on their pictures and have students share in the class.
4. Have students notice the differences between everyone and note how they all have similarities and differences. They all belong there and all bring something new to the classroom.
