- When deciding on a topic, make sure that you are genuinely interested in it. If you do something you're interested in, you will enjoy the process of wiriting your EE.
- The topic chosen should be relevant so that you can use as much recent data as possible, and depending on your question, try to compare data from different countries or years for a more in-depth analysis.
- Choose data that is relevant and links back to your research question, don't put unecessary data just for the sake of including data.
- Regularly check the news (e.g., The Guardian, BBC) to keep up to date with the most current news, whether that be related to disease, economics, politics etc. You might be able to find out very useful information.
- Use JSTOR to look for academic journals, this should be the first thing you look at for data and information.

Do loads of RESEARCH on your topic so that you have evidence to back your points up with. Make sure to use a variety of sources - not just websites and articles as they may not give a holistic view of the topic. Sources such as research papers and academic journals from JSTOR are great because they usually already have a narrowed focus on the topic and will give you a more in-depth perspective, also, they have already scanned their sources so you know they are good to use.

Read, read, read and read some more! JSTOR and the books in the library are your best friends. Dont try to start writing until you have done all of your reading. You should be reading academic journal articles you have found on JSTOR and academic books - these should be the main basis of your research. Do not rely on googling and using reports or data you have found online. Make sure every source you use if reliable and peer reviewed. The more you read the easier you will find the writing process to be. Make sure you keep track of what you have read and the reference

Consult at least 2 subject teachers before finalising your Research Question. One RQ may seem correct to one teacher, but another teacher may find an error. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering WSEE, as it involves more than one subject.

When establishing you RQ, you could think about what you want to do in university as a guiding light. Your major should automatically be what you are passionate about (you could talk about this in your personal statement/application essay to show your passion; a thorough research in the field will give you a head start from other candidates). Of course, do not forget that you have to write about it. Even if you want to study forensic science in uni, you can't experiment on people. Try to achieve a balance between ambition and practice.

Choose a subject area that actually interests you. Honestly- make an early start on your EE because you have loads on your plate. Your life is going to be very busy- it does not matter if you will be picking "easiest" or the "hardest" EE because even the easiest of the easiest EE is the hardest, and the hardest of the hardest EE is also extremely hard- choose a subject that you know that you can spend loads of time in. EE is a very hectic process so you will probably get tired of looking at your EE again and again. Even if you love that subject, you may get frustrated with doing your EE. Hence, think before you choose your EE subject and topic.
Good luck year 12s! :)
