what I know about the boards

our office manager is under boards, if the office manager needs help she would go to the boards and if something needs fixing the office manager would go to the boards, only boards can change rules/policies in our work

i would like to know if board members can come to daycare at least once a week to watch how it is at the daycare, to make sure everything is ok in its place or even to see if we are doing good with the children, were all grown ups but a little reminder about how it is suppose to be would be a good reminder

What i want to know if there’s not enough board member are they able to close the daycare? Because there’s only 2 of them, and they dont really take a regular meeting, staff meeting, special meeting. And i would like to know if the board members are able to go see the children and workers to daycare to go see if they’re doing good.

I want to know how long it takes for a signing authority to expire, for example the chair and vice chair has a signing authority to sign documents, cheques and important informations.

I know that without a board we cannot operate a daycare centre.

I know they don’t get paid for being a board member.

I know they are the ones who organize our workspace and staff.

What I know is any workplace can’t be open if they don’t have any board members, for example the daycares cannot be open without the board members. Not only the daycares every work place need a board members in order to be open.

What i want to know is when we are doing a fundraising when the members cannot show up, are allowed to just go ahead and do the fundraising? And the other one why can’t board members come to daycare to just at least check up on us at if we’re on the right track don’t need to be everyday thing but at least once a month will do.

What I learned about DEA

I learned there should be seven members and need to be elected by the community to become a member. Duties include establishing the school calendar and developing attendance policy, must be at least 18 years old, must be a resident of the community, must be a Canadian citizen. Must be a resident of Nunavut. DEA should meet at least once a month. Committees on Human Resources, finance and inuuqatigiisiarniq.

DEA is a locally-elected so non-local is not eligible for this position

The DEA works with the school staff and regional school operations staff
