Discuss your app design ideas with your group. The Design Lead(s) in each class should take ideas from the group and the global team to create a logo and home screen for their group’s app on Canva or a similar design platform. Consider:

• What is the message we are trying to convey in our apps?  

• What colors and style would help convey that message?

• What cultural considerations should we think about in terms of design (colors, symbols, messages, etc.)?

  
  

Click the "+" under the "Design & Build" section header to add a screenshot of your logo! Give a like to other logos you like.

BUILD

During the Build phase, your group will create your app screens and functions. Plan Lead(s) should facilitate a discussion to determine if any updates are needed to your app content, establish Builder assignments, and next steps.  Once aligned, you can start building on MAD-learn.

A few reminders:

• Everyone should be clear on what each person will build.

• As you build, make sure your group integrates content, media, or other features contributed by your global peers. (Refer to the Plan: Content Contributions section as needed.)

  
  

Remember, the goal is for your apps to embody global collaboration! Throughout the app building process, add video updates or posts in this section to share your progress with your global peers. You can also ask for specific feedback, ideas, or help!

STEP 1: With your group, brainstorm ideas for your app. Once you're ready, click the "+" under to the "IDEATE" section header to add a post that includes:

1. Who is in your group

2. What global challenge do you hope to address through your app and why

3. A brief summary of your app idea (2-4 sentences)

4. Who is the target audience for your app

You can upload a short audio clip, video, or picture introducing your group or your app!

STEP 2: Once you have posted, be sure to read and comment or ask questions on all of your global teammates' posts! What about their app idea resonates with you? Do similar challenges exist in your community? Do you have any ideas of how you could contribute to their app?

STEP 3: Don't forget, Ideate leads will create apps on MAD-learn:

1) login to MAD-learn and start your group's app on MAD-learn

2) add your group members as collaborators on the app workspace

3) fill out the Ideate card on MAD-learn with the same information as above. Others in your group can add to the Ideate card, as needed.

Test Leads: Share your team's app link by clicking the "+" under the "TEST" section to create a new post including:

1. Your app name in the subject

2. A link to your group's app (you can find the link under the "Share App" section of the Test Phase in MAD learn.)

3. What contributions from your global peers did you include?

4. What global challenge does your app address?

STEP 2

Everyone: Select at least two apps from peers in the other country and share your feedback by adding a “comment” to their post.  Prioritize adding feedback to apps that have not yet gotten feedback from global peers. In your review for each app, make sure to include at least one strength and one area of improvement.

Use the App Rubric to share what they are doing really well and what they could improve to make their app better.

Step 1: To make sure your app embodies global collaboration, each group should incorporate at least ONE contribution from global peers into their app.

As part of your planning process, make at least one request from peers in the other country. You might request:

• Resources or potential solutions from their community that address the challenge you have chosen to address.

• Information, statistics, or other research to inform your app design and content.

• Images or content that can make your apps feel representative of both communities and cultures.

• Translations, common phrases, or sayings in the local language to make your app inclusive to people in communities in the US and Lebanon.

  
  

Be specific in your requests! For example: “Could you share 3-5 photos of healthy, traditional recipes from your culture that can help improve wellbeing of our community. ” “Are there any phrases in your language that we could use in the app to greet users?” "

You can come back and make new requests or adjust your requests as you start building your apps.

Step 2: Don't forget to also respond to your global peers' requests! Review their posts and respond in a timely manner. Make sure everyone's requests are answered, and it's more than ok if some have more than one response.

Take a few moments to reflect on the following questions and add a video or post with your answers by clicking the "+" under the "Reflections and Celebrations" section header.

1. What was your favorite part of this cross-country collaboration? What did you learn?

2. What is something you're proud of after this experience?

3. Is there anyone in your partner class you want to give a shout out to for their work and contributions? 

• your name

• a fun fact about yourself

• your hobbies/what you like to do on your free time

• Your favorite foods/sports/instruments/ music, games, etc.

  
  

Once you post, don't forget to come back and respond to your global peers' introductions!

Step 2: Review your global peers' apps from the TEST section above. Then, nominate one of your global peers' apps for a superlative by adding a short video nomination or post! Your post should include the name of the app you are nominating as well as the superlative you would award them and why. (For example: “We nominate WellStudent for Best Branding for their amazing logo that incorporates symbols that resonate with both countries!”)

Be as creative as you want with your superlatives. Here are some ideas to get you started:

• "Most Practical Solutions"

• "Most Creative Concept"

• "Most Likely to Go Viral"

• "Coolest Logo"

• "Best Branding"

• "Most Entertaining"

• "Most Likely to Make an Impact"

You can come up with your own superlatives too!
