In the next land that Odysseus and his men travelled too there were Cyclopes, that each reside in their own cave alone. In the land there was wild wheat, cheese, barley and wine-grapes. (Homer 500)

Odysseus' men suggest to take the cheese, play with the sheep and leave. However, Odysseus is tempted, but his stubborn self and curiosity take over him and he chooses to explore the Cyclops cave instead. Although, it didn't turn out very well for his men.

Odysseus tried to explain to the Cyclops that he brought him gifts, but Cyclops retaliates in a rather unpleasant way. He violently kills and decapitates two of his men and eats them. Odysseus is clever and is coming up with a plan to escape.

Odysseus offers the Cyclops some wine, Cyclops accepts. He drinks three whole bowls of wine, not knowing the consequences. The Cyclops eventually has too much to drink and falls fast asleep.

Odysseus and his men gather a spear and Odysseus cheers his men up. They collectively lugged the spear near the Cyclops. Odysseus lifted the spear up and stabbed the Cyclops' eye. They had blinded the Cyclops.

Falling Action

The Cyclops was furious and filled with rage due to his eye. Odysseus and his men hid under the sheep and help onto them to prevent the Cyclops from grabbing them, they waited there until morning.

Resolution

Odysseus and his men escaped. The crew feasted for victory and watched the sun go down. When the sunset, Odysseus gave orders to his men to set sail. They set sail, with their lives in their possession, but not their friends.
