Im going to use this example from where im from and how the Early childhood Educators help doing community wellness around town, after hours, they help with fundraising if the daycare needs fundraising for something they have to do to make and get things for the daycare, the educators also take care of children at the daycare even when they have children of their own to look after when parents are at work.

I have never really seen educators being part of the community but they go to Annual General Meetings with parents when an educator is an member to have a say on what changes they want to see at the daycare.

Educators also gets the kids to participate in community events like going to the community hall for Halloween contest with other kids from the community, they also join the Christmas concert they host each year at the school so the child can participate and or be included.

I spent time thinking about how this role connects to community wellness and I don’t really have anything to talk about (based on my experience) because there is no daycare in Clyde River, and I never really worked in daycares for years but I know that working with children is not just daily routines and activities - it is about helping build stronger relationships, and healthy community. Everyday (5 days a week out of 7) Educators are there for their most important developmental years helping them build self confidence and shaping their emotional well-being. When children feel safe and valued, they grow - as a team and community: these are important to contribute to community wellness. With this being said, I finally fully understand that Early Childhood Education is more than a job “It takes a whole village to raise a child”.
