We went to Great Wall of China to climb the Great Wall until the second tower and some proceeded to continue climbing to the fourth tower. This was a very precious opportunity for 26 of us to show perseverance and also team work. All of us were cheering each other on and making sure everyone was feeling okay yet at the same time was having fun. We can apply these values in school as well, as we will need to work in groups during the different subjects and also not give up when we are faced with difficulties. This was also an activity for all of us to bond together and to exercise our legs, improve our immune system and be healthy. After that we went to the Summer Palace where each of the palace holds one person like the soldier leader. We also learnt that the difference between summer palace and forbidden city is that in the summer palace, there are a lot of trees but in the forbidden city, there is lesser as the people in forbidden city are afraid that they will be assassinated by the killers that could hide in the trees but in the summer palace, Guards will stand and protect the emperors by facing every direction and if there are people who want to enter, the Guards will ask them for their reason. These Guards portray a value that we can apply during our daily lives by being aware of our surroundings. Cixi was the empress and she locked emperor Guangxu in the palace as she took over his position. She also made a lot of changes and was the reason why China became modernised. We should not be like her as her greed is overwhelming and it is a bad value for us to have. We should be grateful for what we have currently and don’t expect much instead. The corridor in the summer palace is also the longest corridor and Cixu also stepped on it before so it feels magical to step on it. Lastly, we went to the famous birdnest stadium, the stadium represents fire and water cube represents water. We found out that this year 8 of August, they will be having an opening ceremony and this stadium is a place for everyone to enjoy different activities such as concerts when superstars or famous singers come to perform and have their concert tours.

we went to the great wall of china today to climb the great wall,we reached the second tower and stopped to admire the scenery there.I thought that it would be manageable to climb the stairs but it is very difficult to complete it,everyone was already panting even before we reached the first tower. We cheered each other on and waited for one another before we proceeded.Once we reachdd the towers,we would take breaks and take pictures of the sceneries. It was overall a fun experience and i also learnt to not give up so easily, and to remain resilient when I'm engaging in a difficult task,i also learnt that it is very important to have team spirit.Without my friends telling me to perservere and continue,i would have already given up and climbed back down.I can apply this into school by not giving up easily.Next up,ee went to summer palace and it was quite different as compared to forbidden city yesterday. It was more windy as there eere more trees there,we were told that the emperor is afraid of being assassinated since assassins can hide on trees.the leaves of the trees can be used to repel mosquitoes as they have yhe smell that mosquitoes avoid. The palaces there are used to house soldier leaders, cixi, soldiers. It was actually instructed to be built by guangxu emperor for empress dowager cixi to live her retirement life. However, guangxu emperor got locked in one of the palaces by cixi and not allowed to be seen so that cixi can have more power and control everyone.she does not care about the title of her position but instead she wants the respect of everyone, this teaches me that i should be more grateful to what people do to me and not be like cixi, ungrateful and greedy.I can apply this to my school life by appreciating what other people do for me and doing things to thank them back. There is also a 720m walkway for cixi to be sheltered to places she wants to go.after that, we went to the birds nest stadium and water cube and we found out that the stadium represents fire and the water cube represents water so there is a balance achieved. The stadium is open to everyone to conduct activities and is often used to conduct concerts by celebrities and singers.
-aegina

Day 4 was really a strenuous day, personally I felt that it was really such a wonderful sight of the great wall of china, unbelievable sights and indescribable feelings because I was amazed at how they built that. Yet it really taught me what hardwork was all about, when we were climbing the stairs as a group, people asked each other if they were okay or not and the care and concern really made me feel so touched and warm, together as a group we climbed the wall built to protect ancient Chinese at that time and if only I can find out more about how really they built that magnificent wall without technology at the time, the sight of the wall is still lingering in my eyes.

Today was really tiring as we went up the Great Wall of China, it was a real challenge to me as I am afraid of height. Climbing up the Great Wall and looking at the view of mountains and skies give me a sense of accomplishment. Well I still feel impressed by the creation of the wall, being one of seven wonders of the world and knowing it was 400000km long shocked me as the construction even lasted through different dynasty. We also went to Yiheyuan (颐和园)
And the tour guide answer many of our questions, we ask like why there were no trees in the Forbidden Palace but there were trees here and he said it was to prevent assassination, he also talked about the qilin which is a combination of different animals and symbolises justice. This all let me know many Chinese cultures that were very hardly seen at Singapore.

I learnt about the yin and yang from the guide's sharing and they believe a lot in it. At first i thought that the yin and yang stands for a type of martial arts but after listening to his sharing, i learnt that it can apply many cases such as the 鸟巢 and water cube. 鸟巢 is in a round shape and it lights up in red which stand for fire. Water cube is in a square shape and it lights up in blue which stands for water. I learnt that there should always be a balanced between both sides to achieve longevity and immortally. I can apply it to studying and relaxing so i should definitely be a good balance. If i spend a certain amount of time for playing, i should also spend that same amount of time for studying. This will ensure that i have enough time to study for exams and to also take my mind off studying for a while.

Great Wall of China is build as a defence from people who want to attack the Palace. Through climbing up the wall, I felt tired and difficultly in breathing the higher we go as it was tiring. This let me understand that the workers that help in the construction of great wall their 辛苦as it is totally man made. Even though other country like India has great wall but theirs only 5km or 10km long compared to great wall which is 21,000km. Great Wall of China was fanstinating and impressive cuz even though it may not be as nice compare to in the past after many attack. Its still attract alot of visitor from all over the world to visit.

In Summer palace,
turtle is a fortune animal as it connect the two part of the park. The bridge is the neck and the one far away is the shell and the one at the front is the Head. As I did the presentation for summer palace, I knew that there's alot of highlight in summer palace but I didn't expect that the river will be that big and the places are so far apart from each other. Walking along the long corridor, there's pic and decoration of different season. Also comparing forbidden city and summer palace, at summer palace it is much more windy as there's lot of tree along the way. Usually for palace they are scared of planting too much tree like forbidden city. But for summer palace bcs they have guards around the gate and inside hence they are safe and secure that there weren't be intruders coming in to attack her. During my research I dont know that the river is man-made and not natural. I learnt that the river was digged by the workers because the emperor wanted cixi empress to have a good retirement life here. As he didn't want cixi to be so tired over the work. Also by digging the soil and rocks, it's all stacked up into a hill or mountain. Also I'm fascinated by the living room in the Palace.

Lastly I learnt that the last emperor 溥仪 was emperor at the year of 3 bcs the actual son die in age of 19 bcs of some sickness. I also learnt that he is only the emperor in forbidden city once he is out of the city he is just a normal citizen. It is actually very interesting to me which causes me to research more about his life as an emperor.

The purpose of 鸟巢 is for important event or huge concert like 蔡依林and Olympic. I was amazed by how big the area is and grateful that I actually have the chance to visit this place.

There's a building similar to Singapore garden by the bay tree top
There's also a building similar to Singapore marina Bay sand Hotel but they have four building and is a shape of a dragon while Singapore marina Bay sand Hotel is a shape of a ship. Which shows alot of similarity with Singapore.

Day 4 was really fun and i have learn a lot of history. We went to the great wall of china. It was really beautiful and its distance is about more than 40000km. When we were climbing we were all encouraging each other to climb up. The first step i took, i can already feel that it will be very tiring. Everytime we reach a tower, it will be very cooling inside so we rest and also admire the scenery. When we are at the third tower, mr chong ask us whether we wan to climb to the fourth tower. We said no as it the distance to the next tower is very far so we said no. After that mr zakir ask whether we want to try and he said u wan climb to the middle of the tower also can. Once we reached the middle we persevered and continue to the fourth tower, this has teach me to continue the journey no matter what.

The tour guide talked us through about them, saying thag the water cube and bird nest lights up blue and red respectively, which represented yin and yang, sjnce there must always be a balance. The square shaped water cube symbolized earth and the circular bird nest symbolized heaven. There was also a pavement in between them, which could lead to the places of interests we went to before like ghe tiananmen square and forbidden city. -Khai von

The Great wall of China wasn't what I was expecting. I expected it to be cold at the peak of the mountain, but to my surprise, it was scorching hot. The steps of the Great wall of China is also very high, I had to almost "climb" the stairs. Through this trip, I learned a value, perseverance, to keep going and not stop.
-JiaQi

1. Firstly, I learnt that in the past the great wall was to stop enemies from entering during war and trading of goods with others. During war time, the enemies were not able to enter as their only transport equipment, horse, is unable to go down in stairs thus they have to walk. Walking will waste their energy so enemies will not be able to fight once they reach the ground.

Secondly, in Summer palace,

Thirdly, in the bus, the tour guide share with us a few story. For example, the word “风” means special power and the word “水” means money so in china everyone in the past want special power and money for living.

2.Firstly, i inspired that people persevere to climb the whole great wall as it is hard to climb the steep thus i think this is unusual as Singapore’s mountains are not very steep.

Secondly, i was inspired by how Summer palace construction is maintained till now in a good manner. Its painting was still in good use.

3. One thing I will share with my friends is that climbing the great wall is not easy but if there is perseverance anything can become capable.

The great wall of China: I learnt that the mountains near by were where the emperors dead body are kept. Their tombs would be huge and filled with many treasures. Also another interesting fact is that when the emperor dies, he would not want his wife to be alone. So he will secretly sent someone to kill his wife and will lay her body next to his. The great wall of China is 40000km long. It was a hard climb up. I almost gave up. But with the encouragement form my teammates I managed to climb a bit farther more.

day four

Q1. the word 吃醋 came about when the emperor wanted to give a person who helped the emperor a woman for him to marry, but the wife doesn’t want him to marry other woman as she only wants him to love her one and only and she is willing to die to not let his husband marry another women given by the emperor. the emperor said that if she really love him then she must drink the “poison wine”. she drank the “poison wine” as what the emperor said. she did not hesitate and drank it immediately, and it was sour, emperor then said he was surprised by her actions and her love for him. the emperor then told him that she just drank vinegar which is ( 吃醋 ).

today we went to the summer palace and I learned that the kuning lake at there is man-made and it was 4-5 meter deep and now it is 1-2 meter long. In the past at summer palace, there were no walls, guards had to stand around summer palace to protect that area and only let the people who are instructed by the emperor to go there.

Q2. In Beijing, there are more famous tourist attractions than Singapore’s attraction and most of the tourist attractions in Beijing has its own story. But for Singapore, the attraction is more modern (new).

Q3. I learned perseverance today from the Great Wall of China, we had to climb up the stairs and it was very tough, it had one to three layer of slabs every step we go. We had to stop and rest at every 5 minutes, we always say that we can’t do it anymore but we came all the way here so we persevered and continue climbing until the second tower. I was proud of myself for doing so as when we go up, we saw very nice scenery there and it was very windy.

1. I learnt about how the word chi cu come about. Li shi ming’ father is the emperor and when he died he gave all the insurance to the eldest brother. He got jealous and ask his brother to have a meal with him when he reach xuan wu men, all the doors shut down on him and he died. He kidnapped his father just to get the position of the emperor. Once he became the emperor he was really famous and had a lot of girls around him. One day, a guy came and helped him. He is a guy whom love only his women. Then the emperor wanted to give him a gift for his kindness, he told him that he wanted to give him a new girl to be his wife and that wife can treat him really well and help him love him and marry him. But he refused to so he went back to tell his wife about it. The emperor went to the wife and asked her why she dont want him to have a new wife. So she told him because i love him alot. The emperor said so would u die for him? And she said yes. He told her” since you said that you would die for him then drink this posion wine that when u drink it you will die” without hesitation, the girl took the cup and drank it in a shot. The guy then realised that she really love him a lot and he got impressed. He told her” actually this is vineger” which means cu and therefore this is how the word chi cu come about. I also learnt that in summer palace, the dragon and phonics that are the structure to protect the palace have a really meaningful meaning. The dragon is always placed on the outside to protect the phonics as it is a male and the phonics is a female. The tore guide also told us that someone stole the solid gold in the summer palace so they replaced it with a new one. In the summer palace, there is a kun ming lake where in it the emperor build a palace and a bridge shaped into a turtle. The long corridor is a 700km long corridor to give shelter for people to walk all the way to the marble boat. The marble boat is for people to rest and have tea.

2. The difference that i found out today is the popular places in china that is a tourism attraction is more than the popular places in singapore. The culture is still in use till now in china and being passed down.

3. Today was a really tiring day for us. One value that i learnt is perseverance. From the great wall of china, my group and I persevered and finish the great wall of china. We climbed 2 towers up the great wall. Although we stopped half way to have a rest i still think my my group did a really great job. Some other got motivated and even went up to the third then the fourth tower. I am really inspired by them. The perseverance in them and how they want to go further. We can put this value into use in our education. We should persevere in our studies, work hard and do not give up easily.

i learnt that actually there are little trees in forbidden city compared to summer palace as the emperor is scared that assassins wld hide in them and attack them, while the summer palace is a garden where emperors dont stay in but rather they go there to relax and enjoy, hence it is unlikely that they would get assassinated there, so it is ok for there to be many trees. this is how they would protect their emperor in ancient days, however, in modern days they would increase security and install cctvs, since technology is more advanced now and it is less likely for assassination to take place.

in the past, there was no gate at the front of the palace so many soldiers guarded the summer palace standing facing the outside while their leader stayed in one of the rooms, if anyone were to be found in the rooms they would check if they were permitted to enter. this is similar to singapore as the security is like ours. we have many police officers and security checks to ensure safety and that there are no intruders.

We went to Great Wall today. I realise how different it is when I see the picture and really stepping on the Great Wall. The Great Wall is a huge infrastructure build by humans they carried the stones without any machine and build it with bare hands it is really great to see this. Although I only manage to climb the first tower, I feel like it is just great trying to climb the wall and I should gym more in order to climb higher. Summer palace is a very beautiful place where by it is meant for emperor to have a place to chill however it kind of become 慈禧太后’s place. The summer palace is preserved very well although the Bulidings were there for years. Just like Singapore having preserved buildings like Kampong Glam. When I’m doing research on summer palace i see that there is a place where there will be lots of lotus flower blooming, however when we visit there all the lotus flowers where gone, I think is due to their renovation and also there were a lot of Buliding that is under maintenance while is a pity that we did not get to see the full view of summer palace. I think the one thing I’m going to share with my Friend is that 慈禧太后actually prisoned 光绪帝 just to take the throne and she kept him in summer palace

we went to the great wall of china and it was very enriching. i wanted to give up at first but i decided to push myself since ive already arrived. There were many instances where i was at the brink of giving up but i decided to have a strong mentility and persevered till the very end. i realised that a strong mentality and beat all odds and you can overcome any obstacle. as long as u remain positive, ull get it through.

the visit to the summer palace showed how filial the emperor was to his father. i realised that they seal off the interior to prevent the tourists from destroying the stuff inside. This shows how well they preserve their culture and how important the place is to Beijing.

At the Great Wall, i was really at first shocked by the first few flights of stairs that we had to climb. However when we got further up the wall, i was able to get a clearer view of the whole stretch of the wall. This view made me think again that this wall was man made and it really made me wonder the pain they had to go through during summer and winter. At summer palace too i learnt about the location of the palace and what fengshui is. The wind and water was the reason why we enjoyed the cooler weather there. I also was amazed by the manmade lake and hill!!! I don’t really think we can find these kind of places in singapore since there aren’t so many preserved historic places. I learnt more about yinyang at the birdnest and watercube which were surrounded by oddly shaped buildings. This also amazed me at how creative people at China can be.

Great wall of China was build to keepout enemies and to protect their own country. It was really long and steep. It is very dangerous and risky for people to build the wall. kunning lake in summer palaces was handmade by people back then. They dig out the land and make it a lake. It is about 1 to 3 metre deep. I was speechless as the area of the lake was really huge. It takes a lot of effort, time and manpower to finish the lake. Summer palaces has more trees as compared to forbidden city hence it's more windy. Forbidden city has lesser trees because they do not want enemies to hide on the trees to attack.the long corridor gives shelter to the emperor or the people. One of the palaces there resemble a turtle, connecting to a bridge that resembles the turtle neck. The people in the past think highly of longevity. I feel that people back then was really passionate and hardworking. Even with the advance technology we have now we could not do such things. people back then was also very smart as they thought of something to keep out enemies and many more. In singapore, we take things for granted and isn't thankful for what we have. some things may be what our ancestors has created for us and we should be grateful and not be greedy. The different between Singapore is that the Chinese people feels proud of their history and culture, they preserve these items and places for more than hundred years and is now an attractions for tourist. In Singapore, the future generation do not know much about Singapore's history and they don't take our history and culture very seriously. It is something to reflect on.

Before climbing the great Wall I thought it was only like climbing a few staircase .But after starting to climb I found out that it is very steep, and each height of the stairs is different .
Great wall is steep so that it can slow down the xiongnu from attacking them as they will be very tired when climbing the great Wall.
There are 14,000 colorful paintings on the long corridor. They are different from each other ,some are flowers , birds , landscape figures and Chinese classical story.
2.i was impressed by how they maintain the building in summer palace an
I was also impress by how those tourist persevere and climb up the great Wall.
3. 1 thing I will share to my friend is that great wall is not that easy to climb , the stair is not all equal length ,they are all different lengths.
