  • Scheme in Aus – older worker hire – get a grant from gov.
  • Little things  are big:Even if it feels small to us as leaders, it can make a big difference to other people and make them feel more included.
  • Quotas: in the wider teams for a tech company we are fairly well split male/female but..
     
    • Executive team is all men except for Joanne (who is in the traditionally ‘female role’?)

  • Not so much diversity, more inclusivity – disabilities, housewives, welders, old people, etc etc. (am I allowed say that 😊)
  • But we need support to make sur we don’t stigmatise or ‘Other’ them… 
     
    • E.g. one ex-employee, he couldn’t see very well it was off putting for others to engage with him – we maybe didn’t integrate him very well or figure out/explain the best way to engage…
  •  
  • Remote world – coming from outside – make sure that the inclusivity is maintained.
  • Why are we rated high? Find that out first before we change things
     
    • we need to understand that. Then pick top 1/2  items and promote them a bit… 

    • Different regions are different – what works in one place may not work in another. 
       
      • we’re inclusive but we have no maori employee in NZ – personal opinion may not be same as opinion of someone outside looking in.

      • How do we naturally increase the diversity without making that hire a poster child for diversity?
