One Social Similarity between the two empires is that both the Romans and the Han dynasty invested copious amounts of capital into infrastructure. These could have consisted of roads, protective walls, canals, and other such necessary structures such as the Roman aqueduct. This was supposed to help unite the empire and assist with not only troop movements and internal trade but the quality of life for citizens and residents of the two empires. This was proven to grow a more positive public opinion about their respective governments and a way to help pacify an unruly people.

One social similarity shared between the Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire was their accepting attitude when welcoming foreigners into their empires. To elaborate, the Roman Empire would grant citizenship to non-Romans, and similarly, the Chinese under the Han Dynasty would assimilate non-Chinese peoples that were conquered into their empire. With said efforts, they were able to unify their empires, which contained a diverse range of people and cultures.

the difference between them politically is that Rome was a republic, whereas China was an Empire. China had been an Empire from the start, keeping things centralized around the government. Rome was a republic, and although it later became an Empire. It was still a republic for a large amount of time.

In the book at around page 131 it is mentioned that China is an Empire, while Rome in page 122, it says it was a Republic. The ruling system being fairly different just by name and practice. A large political difference (before a Rome transitioned into an Empire.

As previously said, Rome and China are different politically by their government systems. Republic vs Empire. 2 ruling systems that are different, especially since the Roman Republic had 2 different consuls which would take away from the Centralization of an Empire. That is their political difference between each other .

The Chinese language isn’t easily transferable to other languages. The opposite applies to Latin which can be transferred to the Spanish,French,Italian, etc. languages therefore causing different cultural identities. The Han Empire used language as a political tool to create elite assimilation. This allowed for uniformity throughout the entire realm that reflected upon military and cultural aspects.
