The Devils’ Triangle is widely believed as it’s a “modern” (reoccurring within recent history, the most recent events in 2015), with the earliest known disappearance as early as the 1600’s.  The main reason for such widespread belief is simply the Unexplained.  People tend to believe unexplained things when they happen more than a few times. Although there have been several disappearances that are explained, there are enough where there is no debris or anything to make one wonder.

This is a link to the Wikipedia page about the Bermuda Triangle.  It discusses the origins of the term, Criticism of the concept, Explanation attempts and notable incidents.  This is a non-biased article that explores everything from the paranormal to natural explanations such as violent weather and human error.  Reading this article allows one to make their own decision using critical thinking and logic.  If you come away from the article a believer, you could link this to the Pseudoscience Red Flag Proof by Verbosity as there is a lot of information that unbiased can lead you down the path that your own perceptions and observations allow.

It talks ominously about the disappearances.  It talks about the various theories, aliens, paranormal and it’s cursed but goes on to say not even scientists know exactly what goes on.  The way the narrator speaks is leaning towards the red flag Appeal to Authority as the narrator sounds very professional, almost teacher like. It disproves pirate attacks and disabuses theories of a giant squid or undersea earthquake but that it was due to a curse, or Mystical Energy.

This is a 7-minute video re*enacting the fated flight of the (original) Avengers, Flight 19.  It brings to life the conversations held between air traffic control and in between the pilots. It also talks about how none of the pilots mention any storms yet meteorologists say that there were most definitely storms that way.   This video clearly reinforces the reason for belief Unexplained but can also be linked to Mystical Energy.

]]> 2018-11-23 15:23:56 UTC https://padlet.com/kirsten_bland3/letondg2ivrl/wish/307289369 kirsten_bland3 https://padlet.com/kirsten_bland3/letondg2ivrl/wish/307409915 This is a picture depicting the 5 planes in Flight 19, the incident that had Vincent Gaddis coin the term Bermuda Triangle in 1964.  This was a standard Navigation Training flight for the United States Navy that occurred on December 5, 1945.  The U.S. Navy put out a report a few months after the fact stating that the Captain of the mission was not at fault as the compasses were not working.  They issued a subsequent statement saying the cause was unknown, which leads back to the Unexplained belief.

This links to Appeal to authority because meteorologists are scientists and therefore must know what they are talking about.

The article discusses paranormal theories such as aliens or the lost city of Atlantis which directly relates to mystical energy. The main part of the article theorizes that rogue waves and human error are the causes of the disappearances.  It’s very much about debunking the mystery of the Triangle.  From my limited knowledge of weather patterns, they make a good argument and I link this article to the Red Flag “all natural”.  It’s a tenuous link, however weather is all natural and not manufactured or man made (global warming notwithstanding)
