My best self approaches teaching by setting a calming and tranquil tone that prepares for the whole child and what they might be bringing into the classroom from home; whether good or bad. In this space, you can find scents of aromatherapy and soft music playing until students make a request for a different song. Students have greeted each other and I have acknowledged and greeted each of them as well. Before beginning the tasks for the day, students are invited to share 1 thing I need to know or something that is on their mind. Usually these thoughts are shared in our personal journals <3 - Ms. Scott

Things are bright, organized, clean. I am relaxed and prepared when my students arrive. I have all the materials prepared for them (no scrambling!). I greet students with smiles and personal check ins. They smile and say hello to me. Students are prepared with materials because they know well established classroom routines. We all help each other.

I approach my teaching with the essential question. I ask the students what they think about the essential question. Do they know what it is? Once they start responding we start the lesson. If they do not respond, I then answer for as an example. Then they start responding. In addition, I try to link the lesson to real life.
