I am not enjoying this novel. Going into this assignment I had confidence I would like Catch-22 as I enjoy learning and reading about World War II, but unfortunately that is not the case for this book. The main reason i dislike this text is the author style. I find the novel to just be very difficult in general as the author uses complex diction and deep metaphors. I found myself getting lost and having to reread pages multiple times. This book is already extremely long so it does not help that I am essentially reading it twice. I do not think this novel is a bad read but its just not for me. 

2. The first fourteen chapters serve as a way to greet the many characters of this novel. Each chapter in some way is dedicated for a new person, even the title. This makes it so there is no free flowing plot but many short stories or side bars.

It seems that we had similar reactions to this weeks reading as we did for the first fourteen chapters. We all agreed for our opinions to really change the final fourteen chapters would have to have a very different style and it seems very unlikely. I hate to look so down upon this novel but we just all agree it is not the one for us. 

2. After discussing our favorite chapters it is interesting to see how we are all taking this novel in different ways.

Out overall opinion on the novel has been consistent for each of the meetings. While I hate to bash the novel it is not for us. We unanimously decided we would not recommend this novel to a friend. 

2. We found that the ending was very interesting and easily the best part of the novel. It leaves questions while to some are annoying as it lacks closure but considering how the novel has been it is an extremely exciting way to cap off this book

- We discussed a word that we were unsure of the meaning. We looked it up as a group and clarified why it made sense in the context of the story. The word was Jaundice, an illness that is described on the very first page. 

- We read the back of the book and discussed the background that was provided.

- we discussed the setting as we all believe it to be the foundation for discussion. It is imperative to know the setting in order to understand future context. In the case of this novel it takes place in World War II which is beneficial as we all have interest in history and are currently learning about World War II.
