I have learned some General Chinese etiquettes that I did not know before like not sitting down before the guest of honor isn’t seated. In addition when someone pours you tea, you tap two fingers on the table to show your gratitude. In Chinese restaurants, the table is round so that it isn’t easier for everyone to share the food. In Chinese culture, they place the napkins underneath their plates instead of on their laps. People at the dining table are also dissuaded from stabbing their chopsticks in the center of their food vertically. This can be linked to incense which is typically used during funerals. On the topic of chopsticks, this is also something unique to Asian cultures. Instead of using a fork, the Chinese will use two sticks. Deciding to use two sticks instead of a conventional eating utensil is rooted in tradition.

Throughout the article I was able to learn and to understand the differences and uniqueness of Chinese meal culture. Such as their manner, their respects towards the elders, the use of chopsticks, the meal, and lastly their tipping system. The article also mentioned the seating arrangement of Chinese meals which interested me the most. As a Chinese I am able to link many of the cultural practices to my daily life.
