21st Century University + History

The annotated biography's topic involves history and its involvement and importance when being co opted by universities of the current century. Their relevance and reliability will be a key factor to thier inclusion in the annotated bibliography. I will make use of books found by NELSON as well as journal entries found on google scholar. Initial thoughts bring out that this is a big task and certainly something that will require a big time commitment, although not too daunting.

In broad terms im looking at History and its role in the 21st Century in universities. But a specific part I would look at would be how history is taught as well as how history is used in universities and generally the development of teaching through history

What makes a source reliable and relevant is contenscious when coming up with sources to reference and cite in your work. Several questions should be asked before referencing the work, one idea is agenda. If using newspapers, one must be mindful of the agendas it takes, what political motivation does it have, does the paper lean to the left or right. Does it involve monetary gain, what type of content does it have in the sponsered links section, would it want to appease a group of readers. Also are they widely cited, and do they themselves cite and reference other work.

This source talks about the state’s take over of a specific lecture that deals with a specific chapter of Turkish history, and the current criticisms over state intervention into the lectures and courses that universities are home to. It also refers to the idea of history lectures that are compulsory for students to attend, the article also seems to be a proponent for a more independent style of learning rather than a forceful attendance to a lecture.
