I really enjoy Kahoot. I love the game-type atmosphere which allows for competition among peers/students. It also encourages learning to be fun! For these reasons, it's very beneficial for increasing L-L interactions. I used this application all the time with my students when I was teaching, and it was helpful for both students and teachers. Teachers are able to measure the students' responses and formulate data whereas students can either play against each other or work in teams to collaborate. It's a wonderful tool.
- Marissa Komey

I think that my favorite L-L tool is Flipgrid. I learned from using it that the instructor should utilize the video to encourage students to use video and not just the audio recording. I think that it allows students to actually see each other in the virtual classroom. This will increase the L-L interaction between students. I have never used Padlet before this assignment. It seems like it could be a very useful tool similar to Pinterest. Images would be fun to post and then collaborate with other students.
Jen Swartout

The L-L tool that interests me the most is Nearpod because it seems like a combination of a lot of the other tools in one program.

Similar to Padlet, Nearpod uses a discussion board feature where students can add sticky notes in real time on a grid.

Like Flipgrid, Nearpod has an option to record video in live discussion modes.

Nearpod has game based elements like Kahoot, along with quizzes, drawing, matching, and other interactive elements.

Finally, just like Teams, Nearpod can host live lessons using Zoom. Of course, teachers would need to be able to use Zoom in a secure way.

This tool also seems to be easy for teachers to use since you can directly insert pre-made content and customize it.

I liked this girl's Padlet video and her Nearpod one is great too! - Molly Murphy

My favorite L-L tool is Padlet. I like that is can be used during synch/asych online courses and during face to face courses. During synchronous sessions, I like that the Padlet "comes alive" to show the active participation, engagement, and thought process of the students. I also like that it encourages different forms of presentation of knowledge: text, video, pictures, website links. I also like that the resources can be personal or information found on the internet, creating an equitable environment for all learners.
-Amanda
