They learn from nursery school to memorize the history of the Kim family, teaching them myths about the family. Sometimes children are even born in the camps and raised as prisoners. While in the prison camps, forced labor, brutal beatings, and death are all usual occurrences. The government in North Korea refuses to acknowledge the existence of these camps. Public executions occur when citizens have been accused of a variety of crimes.
