         <description><![CDATA[<div>If you want to read efficiently, first, you should perform a simple scan before reading carefully to see if the material meets the requirements. Then, skimming and scanning can help you progress in screening the materials you want to choose. </div><div><strong>Gutting the literature<br></strong>This approach helps you to analyse how useful a book will be and to select material for a specific purpose. You need to<br>· establish and evaluate the value of the book by looking at its aims, introduction, contents and index<br>· identify passages that are important to your aims<br>· skim read these sections, as well as the ones before to get an idea of context<br>· read the chosen sections in depth.<br>This is a fairly ruthless approach, but one which helps you to be selective.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Text books can present a focused view of a key issue.the author has drawn on a range of sources and synthesised these into a set of coherent arguments. </div><div>2. Multi-themed text books are useful in presenting a broad view of a field of study, the relationships between theoretical perspectives, the views of different authors, and the models and tools that they produce.</div><div>3. Research methods books focus on a particular outcome and guide you through the process, drawing on the key issues.</div><div><strong><br>Limitations:<br></strong>1. Text books that focus on a particular issue may present a very particular view.</div><div>2. Text books which cover a great range may present a partial rather than a complete picture.</div><div>3.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Academic journals<br>Strengths: </strong>Usually offer <mark>a more current view than do text books</mark>, and have <mark>credibility</mark> due to the process of peer review. <br>Journal articles are seen as <mark>being either theoretical or empirical.</mark><br><strong>Limitations </strong></div><div>Whilst academic journals can present new and varied perspectives, <mark>some do this in rather inaccessible language<br></mark><strong><br>Professional journals<br>Strengths: </strong> produced by the bodies that <mark>oversee practice in a range of professions,</mark>these journals<mark> uphold the standards of the profession, and checks are made on the credibility.<br></mark>they are produced for a practitioner audience they are written in a <mark>language which is usually quite accessible.<br><br></mark><strong>Limitations <br></strong>The language used in professional journals can be a problem <mark>if you are totally new to a particular field of study</mark>.
