"Boom Bye Bye"
This song is sang by one of our caribbean's greatest Buju Banton from Jamacia. This song depicts how people judge homosexual males in the caribbean. Homosexual in males in the caribbean is least liked as compared to different countries outside the caribbean. The lyrics are as plain as plain can be "Boom bye bye in a batiboy head" . In caribbean countries homosexuality in the male gender is known as "batiboy" This song basically explains of how caribbean people despice them. Our culture stems on what influenced we have from our elders and what values they enstilled within us this is what we know as moral right or morally wrong .Even by the religious books , Men and Women are supposed to get married to opposite sexes. This musical cultural has allowed homosexual violence within the caribbean.Does this counter react with values of man or their masclinity ? Is this why our culture has been so negatively influenced by homosexuality? Is this why Buju sings about the killing 'batiboys'? He continue singing ' who promotes these 'batiboy' affi dead' has our culture becomed this closed minded to changes in society today . Is this why society has blocked out this community ?

In this conclusion Caribbean civilisation has thought me the history of the Caribbean and how it changed.
Although I may not remember all the dates of this historic events , I have remembered the events itself.I've done history since form 3 , I was never a fan of history itself but I preferred to understand the multiple cultures our caribbean countries shared.I wrote three entries about our genders and issues within the caribbean . Within this plenary a lot of questions were raised and it was drawed to my attention that the simple fact of how ignorant caribbean society has become towards a person's choice in life and for inspirational people such as Buju to be singing about how he'll kill those people really captured my attention. My second entry is on Masclinity and Feminity within this piece I've stated how men and woman are not equal in multiple ways within the caribbean , such as within the job place , in terms of their strength , In terms of their ability to do as compared to men and so forth. My third entry speaks on how these men who are known as our 'protectors' have taken advantage of women's innocence. After listening to the plentary sessions I've gained a vast knowledge about our culture and our societal norms. These plentaries were very interactive and it was very inengaging to students around the Caribbean this has gave me a sense of how similar & different we caribbean people see issues of the region.

The history of Caribbean Society has become very predictive in the sense that men are supposed to be the bread winners of family while women are supposed to wait at their side and care to them and their children. However still in modern day society it still has not allowed women to work majority of jobs as compared to men.For example right here in the caribbean which gender dominates the construction field ? Men, Very few females chooses this field .What about "pulling bull " as some may know it "taxi drivers" this is also a male dominated field .I have seen very few female taxi drivers in Trinidad .This has been a cultural norm in Caribbean Society. Men have become our leaders in jobs which tend to be highly paid. This might sound bias but it's true. Hr's have excuses such as this job requires late shift which mightn't be ideal for ladies or they may not be as strong enough. However within my friends they have no short of ideas for their future . I know girls who are doing engineering . I know guys who want to also work within female dominated industries such as nail techs ,hairdressing and so forth.Within this lecture I've learnt how to appreciate history and how it has modified over time even within my social groups.

"Sexual Offences"
To go along with my second piece on Feminity and Masclinity this third piece focuses on how men prey upon females. This predators prey upon these women because they think "females" are of the weaker sex. These men also find sexual satisfaction upon sexually harassing , sexual offending and also raping , along with other offences. Some of these men prey on young woman , girls under the age of 18. These cases have became more rampant throughout the caribbean. These predators sometimes pose as taxi drivers just to lure girls into their vehicles. But why must this be ? Why do this predators prey upon these girls ? Aren't men supposed to be our protectors? But instead we as young women must stay inside , be home before 10 pm , always go out in groups ....
Why have our beautiful caribbean islands come to this state ? Have our protectors become our biggest betrayals? Although our religious book and our history has taught us that men are basically our protectors, providers & so forth however in my opinion yes we look for that in men but we can also find that within ourselves , so maybe those statements are stereotypical.
