Raphael's innovation of painting all walls and the ceiling of the room placed people inside his work. Another interesting takeaway was that the work was not meant to be understood individually, rather, taken as a whole. Second, I learned about the play of lights and shadows during the High Renaissance (chiaroscuro), and how it placed light inside the painting in a scattered fashion in order to highlight certain figures. Thirdly, I learned about the strong impact of the background, and how it makes a painting come to life by putting  depth into the painting.
