2.  Asking the right questions to elicit feedback, help diagnose the problem professionally and objectively, encourage reflection on the part of the mentee so he/she is empowered as well

3.  Sharing the right strategies/best practices to tackle different types of problems (this requires the mentor to (i) be competent and (ii) be constantly improving)

1. Communication. Listening to what the mentee needs in terms of his/her development. Sharing your thoughts as a mentor on what can be done to help mentee.

2. Observation and feedback skills. Observe the verbal and non-verbal aspects of mentee's area of development. Give timely and constructive feedback to help mentee improve/develop.

3. Relationship. Build a professional relationship where there is trust and confidentiality. Mentee will feel comfortable to explore, make mistakes, learn and develop.

As a mentor, he/she needs to be patient, understand the real problem and explain the details to him/her.

2. Empathy - a mentor has to empathise others when he/she has problems/challenges. After empathy, then only can provide assistance

3. Willing to share - A mentor should not be someone who is selfish. He/she is willing to share the things he/she knows
