HOW TO ANSWER:

1) Answer the Question first.
I think the shoppers who are having a massage are thinking about how rejuvenating it feels to have a nice massage after a long day of shopping. The shoppers who are passing by may be intrigued at this sight and be keen to try it out as well. 

2) Describe the video in a systematic manner.
3) Infer the 5W1H of the video.
I think this shopping mall is in the heartlands where people of all ages and walks of life patronise frequently. This could be a mall in the nearby Bishan neighbourhood. This massage place is set up in a common area known as the atrium where there is high human traffic and a wide space to set up the massage facilities.

4) Zoom in on different groups of people, i.e. age groups, behaviours, feelings etc…

I can see that most of the massage clients are of middle age and beyond. They looked refreshed after having their muscles stretched and joint aches relieved. The massage therapists are also showing some brochures to the passers-by to promote their services. Some actually stopped to look at their prices, which are affordable and probably on discount. This help to attract new clients and boost their business.

5) Put yourself in the situation: How would you feel or behave?

If I were one of the shoppers, I would not give this a second look as I would be more interested in other options in the mall. As a foodie, I would be finding the best food joint to dine in the mall. Or I would be more keen to get in line for a refreshing bubble tea to relieve myself from the heat and humidity of Singapore.

Personally, I am not fond of massages as I'm particularly ticklish. Furthermore, as an introvert, I wouldn't want to attract any unwanted attention from the public if I were to have a massage in the middle of a busy shopping centre. Even though I do not have any experience with massages, I would give it a try one day because my friends have told me about the benefits of sports massages.

2) What happened after the experience? Did it change your outlook or change something about yourself?
As a cross-country athlete, I constantly push my body to its limits, resulting in multiple injuries over the years. This has taken a physical toll on my health and my fellow team members have been encouraging me to try out a sports massage. It helps to increase blood flow to fatigued muscles and improve one's range of motion. Perhaps, one day, when I'm game enough, I would muster the courage to try out a massage to relieve my aches and pains. Who knows? I disagree with this statement.

2) Reasons for stand using PEEEL
Firstly, online shopping is not for everyone. Those who are more tech-savvy would be more informed to shop for goods and services in a safe and efficient manner. Some people, such as the elderly and young children may not be fully aware of the dangers lurking online such as phishing scams and frauds. Thus, these vulnerable groups may become victims of online shopping and would be better off shopping at a physical mall instead of an online platform which they may not be familiar with.

Secondly, online shopping cannot offer the fun, authentic social experience that a physical mall can bring. I have many fond memories of visiting Junction 8 mall everyday after school with my friends to tuck into a nice, delectable meal at our favourite eateries. It's also a shopping haven for eclectic fashion accessories and stationery when my school supplies run low. I also look forward to the weekly excursions to the mall to buy essentials with my family. I get to wander round shops at leisure and catch up with my family members.

3) Alternative viewpoint
On the other hand, some may argue that online shopping will replace shopping malls altogether. With the vast array of shopping platforms such as Shoppee and Lazada, people are spoilt for choice when shopping online. Many of the products available online may be cheaper, more attractive and offers a greater variety than those offered in store. Thus, it would be more convenient and efficient to shop online than in store.

4) Global outlook / Counterargument:
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to shopping malls was restricted and people no longer had a space to socialise with their friends and family. Thus, this reduced social interaction meant that families can no longer enjoy the weekly excursions to buy groceries and enjoy the physical experience of a mall.

5) Restate stand and end off with personal POV or predictions for the future
In conclusion, I still disagree that online shopping will replace shopping malls. People visit malls not just for the air-con but for a whole host of benefits as well. It is a place for socialising and spend our leisure time, while consuming the goods and services that we need. I think that people having a massage in the video are at ease and are feeling relieved from all the accumulated stress they had been through after a long and dreadful day of work or school. I think that receiving a massage will also help to loosen tight muscles and stretch muscles that have not been used in a while. Must talk about the 5W1H of this place first! Personally, i have yet to receive a message as i am one who is very sensitive to other people touching me as it feels very uncomfortable. The most memorable experience i had at a shopping mall was a few years back when i was at the mall with my mother to eat. we were wondering what to eat when i saw this blue coloured note on the floor in front of me. I ran towards it and and to my surprise it was a  a $50 note. My mother told me that i should keep it since i was lucky enough to find it. I excitedly took the note and put into my pocket and told my mom that i was going to buy her dessert after our meal. yes i agree that too many shopping malls is a bad thing. a single shopping mall itself  contains is equipped with many air conditioners to keep the mall cool. having many shopping malls means that there are many air conditioners running at the same time and everyday. having such high usage of air conditioners is harmful to the environment as it releases harmful greenhouse gases such as hydrofluorocarbons, causing the weather to be warmer. if this continues, the weather in Singapore will continue to get warmer at an alarming rate. therefore i agree that having too many shopping malls is a bad thing as it harms the environment.

Secondly, i think that having too many shopping malls is bad as it takes up space that could be used for other amenities such as housing estates to be built. Right now, there are not many housing estates to meet the demands of for citizens looking for a place to live as there are not enough housing estates for these residents to live in. Due to the laws of demand and supply, the price of a HDB flat has risen exponentially over the years, making it more and more expensive for one to live here.  hence, i agree that it is bad to have too many shopping malls.

on the other hand, having many shopping malls can be a positive thing as there they provide a respite from the hot weather and it is a space for people to socialise.   will be many of these malls This is especially so for students like myself to find a nice place to eat or even to sit down and chat.

in conclusion there are both positives and negatives in having too many malls in singapore however i think that the negatives outweigh the positives of having too many malls so i think that having too many malls is a bad thing. The video depicts a crowded mall filled with shoppers. Some were chattering away, while others were eyeing at the seemingly intriguing opened-space public massage area. There were also some who showed interest and went up to inquire about their services. On the other hand, patrons who are receiving the massages are mostly middle aged people. The youngsters there are on their devices while waiting for their parents or guardians. I think that the workers are worn out after going through a massage during their whole shift and it may be exhausting. Personally, I would not enjoy a massage in a public space such as this. I think that having an open massage where other shoppers can see will make me feel self conscious of myself.  However, I can understand why some people would choose to... it's also a way for the business to promote... (Need to give alternative viewpoint to score a higher mark!)

Yes, I enjoy going to the shopping mall. I think of going to the shopping mall as a form of relaxation and as a leisure activity. Taking a trip to the shopping mall is a form of stress relief for me as I am able to take my mind off my studies by exploring the new events and stores they have in store.
i also enjoy going to the shopping mall with my friends and family to have meal together as they have a huge variety of food options. Personally, I feel that shopping is a positive way to combat stress.

Firstly, Shopping allows people to destress and take their minds off of their worries. For example, whenever people are stressed from their workload or school work, they can drop by the shopping mall to browse through the many retail stores available in the mall. additionally, with online app stores such as Shopee and Shein, people who do not want to go out of their homes to shop can easily go into these apps to browse through clothing that they want to buy , Hence this allows them to distract and relieve themselves from their stress.

Secondly, shopping can be used as a form of bonding to connect with family and friends. When we go shopping with them , we are able to strengthen our relationships through the time spent with one another and make long lasting memories with each other. We would grow closer to our friends and families and be able to relate to each other more, which enhances our bond with them. Thus, shopping allows us to strengthen our bonds with our friends and families.

However on the other hand, spending money excessively while shopping is detrimental. People could overspend while shopping as they do not consider their budget and while buying making people end up buying things they do not need or want. This overtime causes damage to their financial health. funds.

I disagree that shopping in Singapore is a pleasant experience.
Firstly, during public holidays, weekends or peak hours, there will be full of people in a mall. They might be having their lunch before heading to work or simply just wanting to shop with friends or family. As we are over-populated in a small country, sometimes the crowd gets too large or even too noisy and this will might affect shoppers' comfort being uncomfortable in the noisy environment. Furthermore, senior citizens with mobility problems may have difficulty in traversing the mall, because of how overcrowded the place is. Personally, I’m not the type to like going to shopping malls in Singapore  as I’m claustrophobic and would prefer my own personal space. In a crowd, people tend to accidentally push, or knock into people, which may sometimes overstep into my personal boundaries.

Secondly, Singapore is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Things here such as food, clothes and even daily necessities are so expensive sometimes it even causes a huge hole in your pockets. your pocket to have a hole. Personally, when I'm going out with my friends we would go to hawker centers or a food court instead of going to a restaurant in a shopping mall. Singapore. A plate of chicken rice sold in a hawker centre would roughly be around $4, however, in a restaurant it would cost roughly $13, which doesn’t even taste as good compared to food sold in the hawker centre.

On the other hand, some might say that shopping in Singapore is a pleasant experience. Firstly, malls in Singapore are very convenient to travel to. Most residential areas have shopping malls just a few minutes away. If one needs something urgently, they don’t need to travel far just to get their things. Personally, there  is a mall  just a few minutes walk down my house, so I do not need to waste money on bus fares or train fares just to get to a mall. Secondly, Singapore malls have a variety of shops all in one place. One does not need to travel to get their daily essentials, as malls in Singapore will have a grocery store that contains to purchase all the daily necessities and food for the people.

However, I still think that shopping in Singapore isn’t a pleasant experience for me because I will not be comfortable shopping in that environment. Global outlook? Predictions for the future? Personal reflections?

Perhaps, a more feasible way for me to shop is to do it online. There are now many online shopping platforms such as Lazada, Shoppee, etc...convenience, comfort, may be cheaper with more variety and attractive promotions...

I personally love to go shopping alone, as while i am shopping alone I do not feel pressured to hurry as that i can go or leave whenever i like and to do everything at my own rhythm and pace. As compared to when shopping with friends you dont have to  wait for each other when trying out clothes. it saves time and frankly, I can purchase what I like without the fear of judgement or being embarrassed by my friends. I have one incident when I really wanted to get this dress that I like but I was told by my friends that i do not look good in it which made me not really like that dress anymore

shopping alone also means that i would not buy things under the influence of my friends and families . a recent study shows that single shoppers purchase 65% less then if they were to shop with their friends and families. Therefore I would less likely purchase items under the peer influence of my friends

Despite that, shopping with friends and family whom you enjoy their company is more fun. it also enable us to create stronger bond with each other while shopping together.

I agree that shopping malls bring more convenience as there are more and more shopping malls that are being built near HDB flats, it is that are a mere just 5 to 10 minutes walk away. With the increase of the building of shopping malls, people will be able to get their daily necessity from the shopping mall easily without having to travel very far.  For example, i live near junction 8 where there are different stalls such as fairprice, food junction and a cinema. (okay, elaborate how these amenities bring convenience in your life? entertainment; essentials? )
Hence i feel that shopping malls bring convenience to people like me.

On the other hand some may argue that shopping malls may bring some disadvantage. During holidays, there will be many people going there to shop for gifts to give their children or their friends. At this time of the year, i will feel uneasy when i go to shopping malls as personally, i am not the type of person who likes to squeeze through the crowds and have their sweat all over my body. (claustrophobic; lack of spatial awareness; invading my privacy; USE BETTER VOCAB!) Therefore i disagree that shopping malls will bring convenience to those who are not sociable.

In conclusion, i still agree that shopping malls will provide convenience to people as they can enjoy the easy access to the mall and do not have to spend hours just going to and fro.

I personally like to shop at the mall. I like malls because you can find practically everything at an affordable price at a shopping mall.

A few years back, during Christmas, I had forgotten to buy my family gifts. I was panicking as I put off the task of buying gifts to the last minute. I was also on a tight budget and since it was Christmas, I thought that none of the stores would have cheap gifts anymore. But, I still decided to head to the mall just in case the shops had something cheap for me to get as gifts. Luckily, there were so many options for me to choose from. That’s when I realised that shopping malls were really convenient and helpful when you have a budget.

Shopping malls have offer stores that sell things with prices that range from very cheap to very expensive. People of when many different age groups go to the shopping mall frequently so they will and to buy different things at a shopping mall. With the myriad of shops, it can cater to everyone and it will make things convenient for everyone including me to buy the things i need. 

I used to think that going to shopping malls were a waste of time but this experience made me realise how important shopping malls can be.
