That essentially causes the problem that affects the richer countries who have more of a right than the poorer countries.

I see the scapegoat at HHS when student are essentially blamed for their actions by the teacher regardless of who’s fault it was. The reason behind that is to make the teacher or the student look better so they are not punished for whatever action they have taken so they push the blame on the other person.

There is a scapegoat in Lifeboat Ethics and Singer Solution

In Lifeboat Ethics, the poor people (or people in the water) are more or less blamed for the way things are today. They reproduce more that the wealthy, so are taking up more space. They do not try to help themselves when other help is offered (like the World Food Bank theory) and the rich is expected to help them when the rich isn’t totally able to help itself.

In Singer Solution, the common man is blamed for not helping it’s less fortunate brothers. We are blamed for being “selfish, greedy, etc.”, the kind of people who buy new TVs and video games all the time when we should be sending that extra money to starving children in third world countries. Anyone above “poor people” is basically a scapegoat for not helping said poor.

In HHS, freshman are blamed for a lot of things. “They walk too slow in the halls”. If you think about it, the entire freshman class can’t collectively walk slow in the halls. I’m sure there’s one or two who run to class or at least walk at a normal pace. But if anyone is in your way on the way to your class, no matter what grade they are really in, they are automatically assumed to be freshman. Freshman are the scapegoats in High School, the ones who are (sometimes rightfully but not always) blamed.

I don’t see any at HHS because frankly I don’t care enough to notice. Another way he explored scapegoat was when he talked about Dora and the child from the street.
