While some results were heavily clustered in agreement, some others were more widely spread out. For example, the "rolling eyes" survey question had a very wide range of results amongst us. This highlights the possibility for disparities between what students think is most disrespectful, and what teachers think is most disrespectful.

This could also lead to misunderstandings between teachers and students regarding the severity of the action and what an appropriate response would be.

I'm a bit surprised by the results, especially considering we all are under the values and visions of TFA. It's interesting to see how those values play out different from person to person because some people rated actions like "openly disagreeing with the teacher" and "talking back" as either a 3 or 4 for severity. However, I feel these actions promote student voice, self-awareness, and communication. Also...sometimes I'm genuinely wrong as a teacher, and I appreciate when my kids correct my mistake and hold me accountable. It really depends on how these actions are done.

The behavior that felt most disrespectful was when students continued behaviors after multiple redirects, while refusal to do an activity garnered less sense of disrespect. This might suggest that we as instructor are willing to listen and consider student voices in planning activities that best fit their learning.

These survey results make me wonder or realize the relativity of appropriate or inappropriate behavior. Students spend a significant portion of their day in school where they'll learn about how to (and how not to) interact with others, develop healthy relationships, and advocate for themselves. What students learn is heavily relative to the beliefs of the teacher...which can cause inconsistencies + disparities within schools/classes/communities.
