It's interesting to see how those values play out different from person to person because some people rated actions like "openly disagreeing with the teacher" and "talking back" as either a 3 or 4 for severity. However, I feel these actions promote student voice, self-awareness, and communication. Also...sometimes I'm genuinely wrong as a teacher, and I appreciate when my kids correct my mistake and hold me accountable. Students spend a significant portion of their day in school where they'll learn about how to (and how not to) interact with others, develop healthy relationships, and advocate for themselves.
