Who did it? Well that is the mystery the lack of evidence is unbelievable but the clues that were found were quite strange.

On February 2,1959 a group of college students nine to be exact planned to go on a ski trip on a mountain that is named Kholat Syakhl meaning “mountain of dead”. Until things took a turn for the worst the mountain truly did keep its name.

The hikers were found dead and the evidence is down to a bear minimum. The students were found some missing shoes, some with no shoes and some with one on. At the camp site which is where they were staying their tent was cut open from the inside. This indicated a panic of the hikers same with the shoes.

The bodies condition was horrific one five died because of hypothermia. At the edge of the forest two men were found only in their underclothes, two men and a woman were found near the tent which shows they tried to get back to the campsite but none of this suggested any foul play. Until the rest of the bodies were found.

The rest were found at the forest ravine with clear trauma to the head and one with their tongue ripped out of their mouth. Their clothes had slight indications of radiation and their skin a orange tint with their hair grey. Many wondered why this was, in the 1950's lanterns or lamps commonly had ceramic gauze treated with radioactive thorium, they were sensitive and could break easily. The skin and hair was from wasting away or mummification.
