The original definition of the American Dream was founded by James Truslow Adams, he states, "the dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” I believe that this can still be the case because America is still a land of opportunity. People need to realize that living the American Dream doesn't mean to become famous on some kind of social media platform, but to actually go out and pursue something that could make the world a better place for not only them, but also for everyone around them. He is a senior pastor at Church Two42. He personally does not believe the american dream is still around. He claims that the phrase means nothing to him. The reason he believes that the American dream is not around is because people don't have an understanding of the scripture, who God is, and the creation of the world. He states, "Following Christ has opened doors that I would have never had opened without following Him. This song is talking about how you have to change yourself in order to make a change in the world. The first verse shares, "I'm gonna make a change for once in my life it's gonna feel real good gonna make a difference gonna make it right." This verse defends my thesis because it is sharing that he is going to make a change, he is going to make a difference which means he is going to be dedicated to his dream. The chorus states, "I'm starting with the man in the mirror i'm asking him to change his ways and no message could've been any clearer if they wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and then make a change." This chorus is basically just saying the same thing as the verse. He is telling people to look in the mirror and figure themselves out so that they can make a difference in the world and make it a better place. I believe that this quote is 100% correct and that is an un-american way to think of life. The United states is a land of opportunity no matter what you look like, or who you are. I played piano growing up and really enjoyed it. I sang for fun here and there and really never thought about anything else. I eventually got pretty bad knees and had to stop doing my sport, so I started to be more involved in music and worship. I am now leading worship in the high school ministry at the church. This I believe applies to the American dream because you have to go to a lot of schooling and hard work to become an Occupational Therapist.
