People did not understand ADHD the way they do now. ADHD used to be considered a behavioral problem. Now, we know that ADHD is a problem with one's brain management system. ADHD does not have something to do with how smart someone is. People with ADHD usually have difficulty with focusing and get distracted easily. There are also some times when people with ADHD are able to focus without getting distracted and staying on topic. However, they usually have trouble paying attention with most things.

About 4,000,000 children between the ages of 3 and 17 are diagnosed with ADHD every year. ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed behavioral disorder for kids in America. However, some of these diagnoses may be inaccurate. ADHD requires a professional diagnosis. However, this does not always happen due to factors like cost. People who do not have the money can always go to see someone else. For example, a school psychologist.

ADHD is a concentration disorder. ADD eventually evolved into ADHD to be more specific for those with different symptoms. People may be diagnosed with ADHD because they are inattentive or hyperactive/impulsive. Inattentive is when you have trouble paying attention. Hyperactive/impulsive is when you are overly active and impulsive. Children with ADHD can either have both of these or one of them. Some symptoms of inattentive ADHD are carless mistakes, not listening, and easily distracted while some symptoms of of hyperactive/impulsive ADHD are fidgeting, squirming around, and getting up often. Most commonly, children have symptoms of inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive ADHD. These symptoms usually start between the ages of 6 and 12 and are not behaviorally appropriate for their age.

Children with ADHD are more likely to have learning difficulties but they can succeed in school with the right support and treatment. Children with ADHD usually have learning difficulties due to not being able to control their behavior. This affects them in their everyday life, school, and relationships. The three main symptoms of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Once these symptoms become out of control, you should seek an evaluation. Often, ADHD is seen throughout the family. ADHD can be treated by academic support, counseling/behavioral techniques, and medications. Academic support can be through tutoring, preferential seating, extended time on tests, and electronic devices. Also, it is important for children and parents to learn new ways to cope with ADHD.

Children with ADHD can accomplish everything that everyone else can do, it is just more difficult for them. Behavioral strategies are very helpful for children with ADHD. This can be done by finding specific problems that come up and finding ways of teaching the child different ways of dealing with it and reinforcing these behaviors. This will lead to a better response by encouraging them with what you want them to instead of getting mad at them for what you do not want them to do. Although there are medications for ADHD, they do not cure ADHD, it just helps. It is important to find the right medication and the right dosage.

It is important to know that there is no one test that determines if a person has ADHD. To get a diagnosis, a person needs to be interviewed by a medical professional who knows a lot about ADHD. The interviewer then asks about school and home to determine how the child is functioning compared to kids the same age.

I learned a lot from this project. I already knew a minimal amount of information on ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), but I learned a lot more information. For example, I already knew that children with ADHD often have trouble focusing. They may fidget, have trouble sitting still, get easily distracted, and have trouble focusing. People with ADHD may also have a low attention span and have different energy levels. However, I learned that the three main symptoms of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. I also did not know that ADHD is often inherited, it can run in families. I also learned from this project that although people with ADHD have trouble focusing, all people with ADHD have a few tasks or activities that are interesting to them and that they can pay attention to very well. ADHD can be defined by people have excessive behavioral issues for their age. It is important that people with ADHD get an actual medical diagnosis from a health professional that knows a lot about ADHD. This is because ADHD is often misinterpreted. This medical diagnosis will help them with their issues in their everyday life, school, and relationships. People with ADHD can do everything that everyone else can do, but it is usually harder and more difficult for them. This can cause negativity on the person with ADHD because they feel that they can not do anything. This is why it is important for people with ADHD to get academic support, counseling/behavioral techniques, and medications. Academic support can be through tutoring, preferential seating, extended time on tests, and electronic devices. I found it interesting that there are three common symptoms of ADHD. These symptoms are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Before this project, I did not know that these were the three main symptoms and signs of ADHD. I also found it interesting that although there is medication for ADHD, there is no cure. The medication just helps. It is important for everyone to learn about ADHD, especially if they or someone close to them has it, so that you help others the right way.
