According to John D. Morris, (1994) who writes Does The Law Require Public Schools To Teach Evolution As Fact? it states that the most recent decision from the Supreme Court, teaching scientific evidence for creation is permissible. Research by Morris, (1994) also states “The Court further stated that teachers "already possess" the "flexibility … to supplant the present science curriculum with the presentation of theories, besides evolution, about the origin of life" (pg.8). They are "free to teach any and all facets of this subject … all scientific theories about the origins of humankind" (pg.9).” In conclusion, a teacher can teach evidence, which supports creation.

A solution would be to just stick with the facts, the true scientific facts and nothing more. The outcome of this would exclude creation and evolution views and opinions (Morris,1994). Teaching the hard facts about science is the way to go in my opinion. Giving children the basic framework by using scientific facts is a great solution.

Teachers and school administration must make a diligent effort to accommodate for the diversity of religious beliefs among the school's students. "The U.S. Supreme Court has determined that schools may celebrate the holidays and create displays as long as they so do within “the context of the Christmas season” and the religious component of their display does not dominate .... Lynch v. Donnelly, 465.U.S. 668, 679, and 691 (1984). Under this ruling, a Christmas tree would be appropriate while a cross or a nativity scene would not. " (ACLU.org)

It is essential for teachers to not only avoid promoting one particular religious holiday or practice, but to make an effort to celebrate a wide variety of cultural and religious holidays to educate the students about diversity and acceptance.
