  • Assess the author's connection to the events associated with the sit-in movement.  
  • What is the author's understanding of the events and their bias/perspective?
  • How can this document be employed to add to the historical analysis of the events of 1960 in North Carolina.

We can safely assume the author is white.  It doesn't seem from the articles  that the author has any connection to the events

The author is attempting to be unbiased.  It's a list of facts.  There
 is no moral value placed on the events either way.   It seems to be balanced.   There is no "virtue signaling."

He is very concerned about how he and the university will be viewed because of the students' actions.

3. Definite bias of a white man's perspective - he keeps talking about how these events are negatively affecting all the "progress" that had previously been made in race relations. He was also somewhat condescending to the female students who participated and who might be considering participating.

Pfaff and Reverend John F. Hatchett who was the advisor of the NAACP at Bennett College
2.  He helped lead the students at Bennett College as they created the idea of the sit-ins and invited students from A&T to join
