While large companies and the extremely wealthy are who hold the most power in the terms of global warming, you can still make a difference! Just one relevant example of many that many people participate in is "Fast Fashion"- fashion closely related to trends that die out extremely fast, hence the name. The mass production of clothes on platforms like Shein, Temu, and even Amazon are not only bad for the environment, but require an overwhelming amount of underpaid employees to produce.

A "carbon footprint" is defined as the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions across our lifetime. The average carbon footprint for a person in the United States is 16 tons, one of the highest rates in the world. Globally, the average carbon footprint is closer to 4 tons. This is very commonly referred to when talking about the effects we have on global warming.

To reduce your carbon footprint, you can take actions as simple as shorter showers. Start by researching what you can do to help! Make sure the website you visit is legitimate, usually a .edu or .gov domain. A good resource to start is at the website linked.
