This good source is from the Greater Good Science Center and is called "The Science of Gratitude." https://ggsc.berkeley.edu/images/uploads/GGSC-JTF_White_Paper-Gratitude-FINAL.pdf . Being thankful can help your mental, social, and even physical health and mood, as this piece talks about. To be happy, we need to move our attention from what we don't have to what we do have. Being grateful does this. Our textbook only talks about thankfulness as a good feeling (Chapter 2, page 45), but this piece uses real-life case studies and research to show how being thankful might change the way our brains work to make us happier. The post also goes into more detail about how being thankful can help your mind and body, while the guide only briefly touches on the subject. This source, which comes from the University of California, Berkeley, can be trusted because it backs up its claims with a lot of research studies.

Using the AI tool ChatGPT, I researched "PTSD and its Effects." The AI provided a summary stating that PTSD can lead to severe anxiety, flashbacks, and emotional numbness. It highlighted that treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) are effective in managing symptoms.

Our textbook (Chapter 3, page 152) agrees with what AI says: PTSD can make it hard to control your emotions and show up in the body as signs. The textbook, on the other hand, is mostly about explaining what PTSD is, while the AI overview talks about specific treatments and how well they work. These details give you a fuller picture of how to treat PTSD.

I Experienced Classical Conditioning when I trained my cat not to scratch the furniture. I used a tsk tsk tsk noise as a neutral stimulus and paired it with an unconditional stimulus, which would be a treat. My cat naturally responded to the treat by not scratching on the furniture. Eventually, the tsk tsk tsk noise alone finally made my cat stop scratching the furniture without the treat even being needed. This way of training made the process easy and fun.

Under my circumstances, the process of generalization took place when my cat stopped scratching the furniture whenever other people made the sound of Tsk Tsk Tsk (for example, when other friends made the sound). On the other hand, the species went extinct when I stopped making the Tsk Tsk Tsk sound and ceased giving rewards. The principle of extinction was demonstrated by the fact that my cat eventually ceased responding to the Tsk Tsk Tsk sounds on its own (Chapter 6, page 220).

8. Overall Thoughts on Using AI

This was the first time I used generative AI. I liked how it helped me quickly find information. It was helpful that the descriptions were organized. However, I was careful about how true the information was and checked it against other reliable sources. In the future, I will make sure to check any claims AI makes before using them in my work. This shows how important it is to think critically when using these kinds of tools.
