Elementary, Middle School, and High School all run in the race at the Hermitage. September 7th was their first race. In elementary Collier Brown had the top time in his mile run with 06.07. For, upper elementary Heath Carney represented PVCS and got 42 places out of 112 boys. Benjamin Cody, Daniel Zane Harlinger, and Zachary Knapp represented the middle school boys very well. Benjamin got 81st out of 225 boys and Daniel Zane got 111 out of 225 boys. Madie Lynn Harlinger represented the high school and got 20th place out of 40 girls and her time was 27:30. Hutson Carney did not get to run in this race because of an injury but he said he enjoys cross-country. To be a candidate for the Honor Society, students have achieved a 3.5 GPA in their junior or senior years, along with recommendations by teachers and community leaders. These students display core values of the honor society, read to the student body at the induction ceremony by the newly elected Honor Society officers from the senior class - Emily Gill (president), Ellie Forrest (vice president), Maddie Lynn Harlinger (secretary), and Barrett Campbell (treasurer). The 2022-2023 Honor Society consists of the following students: Kaylee Biggs, Barrett Campbell, Claudia Campbell, Eleanor Forrest, Ellie Forrest, Emily Gill, Madie Lynn Harlinger, Emma Lukeman, Lana Nichols, Catie Olds, Jadyn Osborne, Chloe Pangborn, Sophia Patino, Summer Stephens, Georgia Stevanus, and Mae Voorhies. Throughout the school year the Honor Society will be hosting and participating in several events to learn about Christian service. Some of these will be helping with the Grandparents Day Celebration, the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Drive, and celebrating teachers and first responders. They won a match on August 26th. Sam Parks and Riley Dabs tied with 47 strokes. On, September 7th the golf team came short but Maggie Lawson had the best strokes at 50. Claudia Campbell said her favorite thing about golf is being able to play in nature but also hanging out with the team at the same time. She loves being able to focus on golf while bettering her skill. Ethan Roysden said his favorite memory is getting to hang out with Noah Rigsby and Claudia Campbell during practices. He likes to see his improvement especially when he gets a good drive. Coach Steverson said this is an important position because"They are our traffic directors and give the front row players an opportunity to spike the ball. These three players have led the team well this week with communication and good game choices as they have had to make plays and best decide how to play the ball for the team. Also a shoutout to the PVCs pep club for their support on all of the games we have had so far. It has meant a lot to the coaches and the players. 

The volleyball team has had a pretty good week so far this week. They have had one game so far this week on Monday at Franklin road. They lost 0-3 to Franklin Road. They play South Haven(white out night) on Thursday and then Central on Friday. The team consists of many players that are new to the sport this year, and they have worked hard to grow their skills and their communication, and to play as a team during the games. Ally Lukeman, Ella Ruth Chambers, and Breanna Fortner have scored several points for the team with strong serving skills over the last few games. While only six players are allowed on the court during the game, Coach Roysden works hard to get each of the 13 players on the middle school team on the court at some point during the three matches. Some exciting passes and sets have come from players who are new to the team this year including Sophie Pedigo and Kaylee Crouch in the recent game against Central Baptist. The Lady Warriors are on a roll!
