The PLD looks like it is used for assessment. They sound more academic. The Can-Do descriptors help us in the classroom - in making use of the strength of the students.

Can Do Descriptors are more about practical classroom applications and immediate actionable goals, while PLDs provide a broader overview of language development and are used to interpret assessment results

In session 6, we watched a video which explained the can do descriptors and the proficiency level descriptors. The former being very detailed descriptions by level, in the four skills whereas the latter being categorised into expressive or interpretive communication skills

We mainly discussed the difference between the can-do descriptors and level proficiency descriptors. We understood that the can-do is what the student is currently able to produce while the proficiency level descriptor is more a guidance on where the student should be.
