KTeachers are an extremely relevant facet of any given society. They in fact mold the future leaders. Teachers therefore deserve special honour (increased but most importantly fair salaries)

a)TEACHERS CREATE ALL OTHER PROFESSIONS:
Think about it...to be a fashion designer, you should be able to measure, sketch and colour (Math and Art) To be an accountant you must be able to do sums and reason (Math) To be a an electrician you must be able to connect wires, plugs and switches (Technology) To be a secretary you must be able to type, read and respond to emails (Computers/CAT and English)
So where do we learn all these skills and gain knowledge of how to do the above things? Answer: At school from the ands and mouth of our teachers.

Together with the above are the roles of a teacher. No teacher can just enter a class and a teach a lesson. There are greater roles that are expected from teachers. Their roles in society are significant but also very valauble.
b) 7 TEACHER ROLES :
1) Learning mediator
2) Interpreter and designer of learning programs and materials.
3) Leader, administrator and manager
4) Scholar, researcher and lifelong learner
5) Community, citizenship and pastoral role
6) Assessor
7) Learning area/subject discipline/phase specialist

c) REMUNERATION (SALARY) OF TEACHERS GLOBALLY
-According to the Global Teacher Status Index for 2018 from which 35 countries across the globe has been covered.
-With the cost of living taken into consideration, South African teachers earn more/less the same as teachers from Japan and Turkey.
-According to the report Swiss teachers are paid the highest followed by Germany and Singapore.
-Egypt, Russia and Uganda teachers are the least paid.

d) TEACHER REMUNERATION IN SOUTH AFRICA:
- Teacher salaries in SA varies greatly depending on aspects such as where they teach, what they teach, qualifications, public or private school, and the level that thr schopl is at.
- With reference to the salary database PAYSCALE, a primary school teacher for example earns between R80.000 and R275.000. For high school teachers it ranges from R120.000 to R300.000.
- The highest paying jobs in education is ranked as the superintendents, school priniciples, chief academic officers, academic deans, assistant principals, instructional co-ordinators, libarians and secondary school teachers.
-In SA amongst the top 10 highest paying jobs are software engineers, pilots, lawyers, it managers and medical specialist.

I personally do think that teachers should definately be paid higher and fair salaries not only to providefor themselves and their families, but also to avoid skilled and fully equiped teachers from rellocating to other countries in search of sensible curriculums, better working conditions and benefits. In conclusion "A teacher affects eternity. He can never tell where his influence stops."

Below is a video clip which illustrates the information provided above. Watch, be informed and enjoy !

Being a teacher in the 21st century has surely changed tremendously. When people asked what did for a living and you answered "I'm a teacher" you were treated highly and with lots of respect. Apartheid also played a role in this because teaching was one of the few occupations you could enter. Today, teachers are not respected and many have lost sight of the importance of the role of a teacher. The salary discrepancies is surely a huge problem and we have a long way before we are "free".

Teachers worth isn't seen! We are underpaid and that is unacceptable but still we do what we do best, instill the best into society and give back to our communities. Without teachers our society is destined to fail!

Teachers have the most important job in society because they mold and educate the future. Teachers have many roles such as mediators, psychiatrist, referees, tutors, adviser, etc but they are not appreciated enough in society. The salary does not suit the duty served and most teachers seek additional jobs or overseas jobs where their worth is earned. An urgent change is needed in how teachers are treated and viewed in society!

I fully agree to everything being said in this padlet post amd i agree to all the comments.
We as teachers don't only learn how to convey the work to the learners, but most days we have to be parents and also social workers to these learners. So, doing this we need to have an high emotional intelligence level as well. This takes up physical and mental strain from us. Which most professions do not require. But oh well.
