Why is it satire instead of parody? (David)

It is a satire because it says bring back whatever you can get your hands on, which is an exaggeration for just get as much as you can. This is also mocking garage sales because when you go to garage sales, people tend to be a little greedy if they see things that are cheap

People these days buy junk. Its doesn't even matter to them if it is worth the money, people feel they need everything. They buy so much stuff and one day they realize they don't need it. They have an urge to buy many things and spend so much money at one time rather than saving it and buying something useful. "One man's trash is another man's treasure" - unknown.

What does your cartoon mean when interpreting it from a satirical perspective? Take apart the joke.(Abby B)

In this cartoon, garage sales are being satirized. Through a satirical perspective, garage sales are shown to be a sale of human garbage. People of modern societies are constantly cleaning out their belongings, whether they are broken or not. These sales, therefore, are a build up of unwanted trash.

How is it relevant today?(Ibrahima)

This is relevant today because Americans spend most of our money on useless "junk" (irony) that the manufacturers probably didn't put much work into getting to. This ties in with satire because the rummage sale is running out of stuff to sell so one of the owners sends someone to get something else from the landfill to go sell.
